October 11, 200520 yr Newbies I have successfully placed my database list on the web, but would really like to cusomize the IWP front page (the Database Homepage that shows the list of published databases). The page is titled "Instant Web Publishing". I would like to customize this page but can't find its location in Mac OS X 10.4. The page is easy to pull down off the web browser and customize, but now I need to know where to place the customized page to replace the canned screen. Any suggestions?

October 23, 200520 yr Sort of anon related question, but can others outside of your LAN access your database via the web. Im having alot of trouble resolving this,, even with my firewall shut down. From inside my LAN it works fine (using FM 8 not Advanced server). Just curioius to see how you are using it.
October 23, 200520 yr Your connection from the WAN (the Internet) to you LAN needs to be told to allow traffic on port 5003 (TCP and UDP) to pass to the computer running FM. Most modern routers/firewalls have a web based interface, the setup varies too radically to detail here. If this doesn't make sense: tell us how you connect to the Internet (cable, DSL, et al.) and what network boxes are between your computer and the outside connection.
October 24, 200520 yr I understand how to share a db via the web on a WAN via port 5003 and have done so successfully. The problem I was having was from my home, in which I have a wireless router and Cable internet access. I wanted to publish a db to the web. I set my router to forward requests to my host computer (192.168.1.2) over Port 80. Then when I went to another computer on myhome network and typed in either the private IP (192.168.1.2) or the Public IP address for my router (given to be by mt Cable companies DHCP), it worked fine. When I went outside my LAN and tried to access it via my public IP nothing happnens. Should I try using another port such a 5003. I thought 5003 was only for hosting FM Clients, not for IWP. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ron
October 25, 200520 yr I didn't read your post carefully enough, port 5003 is not needed for IWP (sorry). The reason you can access IWP using the router's IP: When a computer on the LAN accesses the router's WAN IP address, the router does it's own routing, and since it considers the LAN a trusted network normal filtering does not apply. In Window's Firewall Control Panel on the Exceptions tab, in the list, Edit FileMaker's entry and then click Change Scope.... Make sure the "My network (subnet) only" is not selected: either allow all computers access or list ones you want to limit access to.
October 25, 200520 yr thanks, thats what I figured. I must have some adjustments to make still on my firewall. I'll keep at it. Ron
