Jimmmmy Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 I've searched this and other forums to see if anything like this has been done. I think It would really come in handy to create a Security Tips Topic as it is an important issue for small school/house-based publishers such as myself as your external IP is basically exposed... and im sure it is an issue for larger server services too. Any basic tips or recomendations anyone? - Jim
Wim Decorte Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Can you describe your setup in some more detail? As soon as you allow remote access, there will be an IP exposed, no way around that. But close all the ports that you don't need. Inspect the firewall logs regularly and the event logs of your various systems. Limit access to days/hours where appropriate, have a good authentication system inside the network, with different levels of privileges.
