August 22, 200619 yr Newbies I am trying to set up Instant Web Publishing with FileMaker Pro 8.5 in Windows XP but I keep getting the message "FileMaker cannot share files over the web because Instant Web Publishing could not be started." Here are some of my system details: 1. I installed FileMaker on the admin account of my computer. 2. I use FileMaker on my personal account. 3. Computer is hooked up to a network at my work. 4. I was able to get Instant Web Publishing working on the admin account, but when I tried to access FMP from another computer it would not load in Internet Explorer (I had FMP running at the time). 5. IWP does not work at all on my personal account even though it kind of works in the admin account. 6. When I open FMP 8.5 in my personal account it starts off slow and pops up an error that IWP is not running. I do not get this error on the admin account. Any suggestions on how to get Instant Web Publishing running? I tried to change the port to 591 and it still did not work. Thanks, David
August 24, 200619 yr Newbies I would also appreciate receiving help because I have a similar issue: Instant Web Publishing will not load. When attempting to set IWP, if I manage to click on the advanced settings tab to make a port change, after I click "ok" FileMaker crashes without any explanation, just an error message to the effect that it has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have uninstalled and reinstalled FM while disabling my antivirus software and my internet security settings, without success. Thank you.
August 24, 200619 yr I'm having the same problems. FMP Knowledgebase states that this error "Instant SP could not...." is because there is more than one copy of FM open on your computer. Answer ID #410. I only have one copy of 8.5v1 running. Also, and IP address does not automatically appear under URL.
August 24, 200619 yr When you installed FileMaker Pro, did you tell it to install for all Accounts? Steven
August 25, 200619 yr Newbies Thanks for the replies: I did indeed install FM for all users. New since my last note: I tried configuring FM for IWP in my laptop, and it works. I must still test it outside my home server. So it seems that the issue is related to my desktop computer, and I have strictly no idea how to correct it! A question: is there any way to prevent FM from attempting to load IWP on startup? My desktop version takes a long time to open because it attempts to load IWP, even though I have turned off IWP in each database. I am baffled!! Catherine Edited August 25, 200619 yr by Guest
August 28, 200619 yr Author Newbies Yes, I believe I did set it up to install on all accounts, however, the account I am trying to use FMP on is based off of a network server--not on the local machine. Could this be a problem? Do you think if I reinstall FMP I could fix this IWP issue?
