IWP not finding calculation fields

Featured Replies

I'm having trouble with calculation fields (yes, they're indexed) with Instant Web Publishing. I can perform finds with other fields, but the calc fields do not work (sometimes I go back to find mode, without any of my requests saved; sometimes I get an error message).

The finds work perfectly from the same layout when I use them in the file.

What could be going wrong? Is this a known Filemaker web-publishing bug?

Hi,

I just came through a problem with inconsistent finds in an iwp solution which sounds similar.

Bear in mind, thought, it may not be the same problem, so ymmv.

My setup was 8.5 client running iwp. I scripted a find which included a particular calculation field. In FMPro, the scripted find always behaved as expected.

Via iwp, however, the scripted find worked as expected the first time. But, if criteria were changed for a second (or subsequent) find, the change was not implemented for the particular calculation field. Hence subsequent search results were always derivations of the first search. This was unexpected behaviour.

I found the solution after 24hrs of testing and rebuilding...

The script switched layouts and perform the find on an AllFields layout. I deleted the AllFields layout and create a new one. It worked. Maybe the layout was corrupt?

Easy when you know the the fix... very difficult when you don't!

One more thing... I found that unlocking the status area and searching manually (rather than using my script) via the web interface was a useful troubleshooting technique.
