uploading files over the web

I would like to know if anyone has a way to upload files over the web (not ftp) either into a FileMaker database or saved into a directory on the host server?

I have seen the HTML source needed for this to work, but have yet to figure out what's needed on the server side.

In order to upload using a browser via a form, you need a web server capable of browser uploads. For example, WebSTAR 3.x and 4.x have an Upload Plug-In that enables this feature. I may be wrong, but I don't think that FileMaker Pro is capable of this.

Hey, thanks for the response. Jeeze, for a while there I was wondering if anyone had a clue what I was asking about.

Do you know if Windows NT 4 or Windows 2000 has this capability built in somehow?

Anyone have any tips on how to do this using Apache (as in on OS X) ?

Have a look at this thread:

"Using Filemaker Online" - "File Upload & PHP"

All the best.

I'll check it out, but I'm not currently running PHP, is there anyway to do it using CGI/Perl, or am I goin to have to setup PHP?

PHP comes with OS X. To activate it you remove the comments from the httpd.conf file.
