spacemonkey Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 (edited) Could someone please advise me how I can place a custom web for use with FMSA8 (MacOSX 10.4.7)? I've already tried the following: 1) Created custom pages test_home.html and test_auth.html by duplicating and then editing the original iwp versions. Did the same with the iwp .css files. I copied all the files and directories into the FM Web Publishing.app/Contents/Resources/iwpres/ directory sshed in as as root remotely. I changed all the privileges on my files to match the equivalent default iwp files and directories. When I tried to access the test_home.html page via a web browser the page tried to load and then skipped to the iwp_home.html and then got into a loading loop trying to load the iwp_home.html page! 2) I then tried backing up all the original iwp files (iwp_home.html, iwp_home.html, iwp_home.css an iwp.css) and then renamed my files as the iwp default file names reset the privileges. When I tried to logging into http:///fmi/iwp the page went straight into the loading loop! I've subsequently reset all default files to the backed up files and checked that the standard login works again, which it does thankfully. I am trying to create a custom iwp_home.html that allows a user to proceed to the login page (iwp_auth.html?) to login if they are already registered, proceed to the subscribe page (auto login as NewSubscriber, say - should be a separate from from iwp_auth.html?) where they can input some details to obtain a username and password, and a cancel button to take the user out of the screen back to the main website. Can anyone explain what I need to do to create these custom pages, please? Edited October 18, 2006 by Guest
xochi Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Read this thread, it may help with some ideas: http://fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/178642/
spacemonkey Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 (edited) Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I've already looked at these posts - they don't actually tell me why I'm not able to edit and save the files so they work in FM8SA. Are there any step-by step guides showing how these files are edited successfully and where they are placed in relation to FM8SA so the files work when loaded? Thanks again Dene Edited October 18, 2006 by Guest
xochi Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 FMSA8 claims that you can put your own copy of iwp_home.html in a special place and it will be recognized (rather than forcing you to edit the one hidden in the app). I found this wasn't working for me, so I ended up editing the files inside the app. I'm using BBEdit for the editing, which is very good about respecting line-endings and file permissions. What editor are you using? I'm wondering if perhaps you are messing up the .html files by accident with the wrong line-ending or permissions?
spacemonkey Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 A belated thankyou for your reply xochi. I've also resorted to editing the master files - using TextWrangler. This works fine, thanks.
