Exporting Records from IWP Stalls

Featured Replies

For a client of mine, I set up an IWP database, and everything is working fine...except when I or he goes to export records to tab-delimited format all we get is the steaming cup of coffee--the records don't count down. What's happening? Has anyone here experienced this?

You are trying to export records via IWP from a web browser?

The export records script step is not web compatible....

Thanks, Reed--it's not grayed out, so there was no direct indication.

Update: Uh, no, it IS possible to export from a Web file remotely connected. It stalled previously because I was exporting too many fields. When I export just a few, FileMaker counts down just fine!

I'm not sure what you mean... are you saying you can export records to a .tab or .csv file etc. using a script launched from a web browser? In my copy of FMP, that script step is grayed out for IWP, and if I make a script to export records, it only works if I launch it from a FMP client, not from any of the browsers I've tried.

It doesn't stall, it runs through the script without creating any exported file. Where does the exported file appear when you export records from a browser? On the client computer or on the host?

No. When I said "remotely," I meant connected from my local copy of FileMaker to the Web, i.e. not directly through the IWP interface. It works fine when I export a relatively few number of fields, but chokes when I try to export many.
