Definitive list of ports required in a two machine setup

Featured Replies

We have set up Web Publishing in the two-machine setup as per the documentation with the Administration Server and Publishing Engine on our Web Server and the Databases on our Database Server in the "Two Machine Configuration A" setup. According to this document on the Filemaker support site we should only need port 5003 open on our firewall but this doesn't appear to be the case as the Web Server always reports that it can't find the server.

The Web Server is in the Firewall's DMZ and is already serving another database application with a custom filter in place for the required port and that works fine so the basic network connectivity is there. I have been able to get things working by using a filter/proxy on the Firewall which allows all traffic through on any port but that's not something I want to do on an ongoing basis. Once communication was established using the all filter I was able to remove that setting and it carried on working for a while but has now stopped communicating again which suggests that there is a port required for the initial connection which is being blocked by the Firewall.

Is there any documentation anywhere which gives a definitive list of ports required for "Two Machine Configuration A" to work correctly? I have a filter on the Firewall which allows 5003/tcp, 5003/udp, 50003/tcp and 50006/tcp but this is apparently insufficient.

Sorted it now, it is port 5003 but our Firewall requires it to be added as a client rather than a port for it to work correctly.

Greetings,

I'm rather new to IWP. Let me see if I understand you correctly. If I use port 5003 in my firewall settings my client should be able to test drive the Database solution I'm creating from my home? I am rather nervous about allowing ALL traffic to my machine but wasn't sure of the exact settings to use in the Firewall settings dialog box.
