Newbies Alfonso Posted June 22, 2001 Newbies Posted June 22, 2001 Hi, I have only a few days using FM 5.5, and want to use the Instant publising and i dont want that the default bottoms appears, only those that i have in the layout. I hope someone can help me. Thanks.
Anatoli Posted June 22, 2001 Posted June 22, 2001 Nobody I know is using Instant Publishing and Instant Coffee :-)
Keith M. Davie Posted June 22, 2001 Posted June 22, 2001 "...want to use the Instant publising and i dont want..." To Instant Web Publishing it matters not what you want or don't want. (tee-hee) If you have specific wants, you will need to learn html. Then you will need to embed cdml tags (or if you have the money to buy Lasso, ldml tags) in html code. You will then be able to do custom web publishing which allows you to pretty much get what you want.
Newbies Alfonso Posted June 22, 2001 Author Newbies Posted June 22, 2001 I just dont want to see the header that apears (home, help, next, previews, etc), someone tell me that it is possible with FM 5.5
nolimitsit Posted June 23, 2001 Posted June 23, 2001 If this page is only for data entry choose the entry only option. This can be found by selecting sharing from the File menu, selecting web Companion clicking on set up views. Choose the view as ENTRY ONLY. This will simply allow people to make entries without allowing them the browse your records.
Newbies Alfonso Posted July 2, 2001 Author Newbies Posted July 2, 2001 Thank you all. I could supressed the Instant Web Publishing controls creating a startup scrit. (who say that it's not possible?).
Newbies thecaptainkirk Posted July 3, 2001 Newbies Posted July 3, 2001 Well, not quite so easy. Even in "Entry Only Mode" the previous, next, etc headers WILL show up in Instant Web Publishing if the user's browser is non CSS-( such as Netscape 4.x). If you don't know who's coming to the page, you're likely going to give them access to someone else's record. I categorize this as a security flaw at worst, bad advertising ("entry only isn't entry only") at best. And no Anatoli, I don't drink Instant Coffee, but there are times I do need to Instant Web Publish "entry only mode" to the great unwashed who don't want to download a free new browser. Hey, it's expresso time now!
Newbies Alfonso Posted July 4, 2001 Author Newbies Posted July 4, 2001 You're right Kirk Knight. I just had tryied with Explorer, but like you said it doesn't work with Netscape, thanks for you help. See you.
Newbies thecaptainkirk Posted July 4, 2001 Newbies Posted July 4, 2001 You're welcome. I'm trying to find a simple shortcut to this now. My first pass looked promising: I used "instant web publishing" to build a page response to older browser. Then I took that source HTML, stripped out Javascript, checked the tags that sent me to and from that page, the submit, the error and various formats, removed the headers, etc. But what worked at 10:45pm last night on my development system isn't working today on my server. It took me less time to build a new expense reporting system in FMP5. All this for a volunteer project! I, too, would welcome suggestions. I'll gladly grind the beans if Anatoli or someone can heat up the expresso machine.
Lieven Posted July 12, 2001 Posted July 12, 2001 With FMP 5.5 it is very easy to suppress the IWP default interface: Create a startup script with 'Toggle Status Area [Off]' and all you will see in your browser are the things you've put on the layout.
