Hello,

IWP via FMS9. I have a Student DB with related tables for test scoring input. In the Student table there is a portal to a test table from which I would like records added via the portal. But when I click on the tab which takes me to this particular layout the portal does not become active. Nothing will work to make the portal active. The only way I can make it work is to add a separate checkbox field to click first. After clicking into the checkbox the portal is activated then records can be added.

Works fine with using the Filemaker client.

Does anyone know why the portal isn't available right from the get go?

Safari will be the browser we all use and it will be used on a Mac platform

Your help is appreciated

The Open record command will place the layout in "edit" mode - this will get you access to the last row. Alternatively you can click in any field on the layout.

I'm not sure of the reason for IWP portal behaviour, however it is consistent with other IWP behaviour, notice that the layout is refreshed when you get into edit mode. This is all probably due to the fact that a web client is not interactive in the same way as an FMP client.

Incidentally the TAB order behaves differently too - I made a button the 2nd tab item, but IWIP does not select it after exiting the first field.

Hello and thank you for the response. Would you suggest just making button with the script attached where as the user can click on the button to activate the layout or do you think it would be better to attach it to the tab.(I used the tab feature to navigate each layout). Thanks again for your help.
