May 22, 200817 yr Hi I have setup my database for instant Web publishing. I am on a dynamic ip, but I've got around this using no-IP.com it works really well and have managed to access a test database over the net. I've got some questions about security. I have set up on my router port forwarding to the computer with the database, I have open port 80. my question is should I have any security issues when I open this port. Can I set up a secure connection to this database. I don't particularly want to set up selected IP addresses for clients as this could be difficult as some of them on dynamic IP is as well. Can I set up SSL connection? With no-IP.com you are set up with a domain name which you can point to your dynamic IP which is pretty cool. Also if I have the port forwarding setup but the server is not running should I have any security problems there. Sorry I'm rambling on hear bit here..... So if a client logs on to my database and they're not on a secure connection there login password would be sent in the clear. yes/no? So someone could sniff the traffic on this connection would they be able to see what is happening? lots of questions sorry looking forward to hearing from you and your thoughts Cheers D
