Hello Guys,

Whats the most elegant way to get FileMakers IWP to send an email from the clients mail app. I've tried to use Open URL, with the mailto: command. This seems to work OK at my work machine, although it does have issues such as you need to enable pop up windows in your browser, and when it does launch, the browser says that a script is trying to launch a window (somthing along those lines) do you wish to continue.

At home, the mailto: command does not work at all, although I can generate an email from another regular html pages with a mailto hyperlink.

Anyone know of a more elegant way of just generating a bog standard email in IWP?

Will the email plugins allow me to email from the clients mail app, or is it server based.

Would you recommend any?

Thanks

You can use an email plugin.

Can you ... which?

This isn't a plugin!!:

...and it doesn't send mails via each users mail application? Please reveal your secret!

Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that a plugin could create email in the user's mail app, I meant only that with a plugin you could send email using FileMaker via IWP. I don't know of any way to invoke the client's mail app via IWP other than the Open URL/mailto method you've already tried.

Perhaps you could script it so the user receives a cc of the email?

Søren, myFMbutler AutoSender is certainly an option; but I had in mind an email plugin installed on the server. The 3 email plugins listed here can all run on FMSA via IWP.
