June 19, 200916 yr Newbies Hello, I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere, I searched for hours and didn't see anything. I'm trying to run a very simple Finder applescript to launch a filepath out of IWP. I know the applescripts won't launch in IWP, so I was wondering if there was a workaround? Its simply: "tell application "Finder" to open location "SERVERLOCATION_FIELD" followed by an activate script to bring the window to the front. Perhaps using a webviewer or Java script? I'm unfamiliar with either, so that might be a silly question. Thanks very much
June 19, 200916 yr Whoa, you want a web page to have the power to control your local computer? That sounds Dangerous, Lee!
June 19, 200916 yr Well perhaps if you explained this a bit better: to launch a filepath out of IWP What is the context and purpose, being that obvious, that you skimped...? --sd
June 19, 200916 yr Author Newbies An explanation of the context and purpose: The database is tracking the work and status of all our of visual effects needs for a film. Each shot (roughly 200) contains several elements. Each element can contain more than 10 different assets, renders, etc. Each one of these things has a permanent server location spread around contextual folder structures. Part of the data which was input for these assets is its server location as a file:// path link. Naturally, in Filemaker, I have an applescript which will launch a new finder window of the folder containing that element. Works great. Instead of having Filemaker clients on all of our workstations, we purchased a server license to host IWP. So what I have is a large number of these "Server Location" filepaths which are completely useless to someone in IWP, as its just a long line of small, confusing text. The hosting is exclusively local on and for our internal network.
June 20, 200916 yr Well this purpose is a far as I'm told, elegantly solved by this: http://www.360works.com/supercontainer/ So yes: Perhaps using a webviewer or Java script? ...would be the best bet here! --sd
