lingtheling Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Hi, please can any one help... I'm a bit stuck... I'm trying to publish a very simple database through IWP. It shows me the url "http://192... etc and I've added the port 8080 in advanced options. To check it, I've opened the url on a different machine in a browser (eg safari) and it's worked. When I've then checked (by either a pal, or through remote desktop) through a different computer - eg remotely, its not worked at all! I can't see what I'm doing wrong -( Lisa
Vaughan Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 You'll need to open the router and do some port mapping to see the server from outside the network.
lingtheling Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 Ah... I said... newbie-ish, didn't I... maybe that was more like in capital letters... Any advice on opening up my router and router mapping? I've seen it once, but I don't remember how to do it. Thanks!
Vaughan Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 That depends on your router... time to get the box out and read the manual! It usually involved connecting into the router administration pages and changing a few settings. You'll need the router admin username and password.
lingtheling Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 Hooray... That little clue on 'remapping' my router... lead to a wee google search... and I think I've done it! Thank you!
