Iwp Viewing From Outside Network

I cannot get my router to seemingly properly forward IWP so that I can view it outside of the network. I had it set up properly on our Verizon DSL, but recently switched to TWC cable with a Static IP. Now, with Verizon, I had to set up the router specifically for the static ip (primary/secondary DNS servers, etc). However, TWC has continually told me that, for whatever crazy reason, none of that needs to be done on my end and that they "take care of all of it on their end".

So, my problem then is this (assuming TWC is telling the truth):

- I cannot access IWP outside of our LAN.

I have the host computer with FM set up on it's own internal static IP, and publishing IWP on port 591. The ports are forwarded to this computer's IP within my NetGear router (TCP/UDP port 591 to 192.168.x.x). Yet still, I am unable to type in my TWC static IP address from outside of the network (with :591 at the end of course) and access the database. Is this simply because TWC doesn't know what they're talking about/I need to set up my router for static IP? It's weird because while we have a static IP with them, I have to obtain my router to dynamically find the IP with TWC, which seems counter-intuitive.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

EDIT:

There is an industrial ethernet switcher between the NetGear and the TWC cable modem, but as far as I know, the switcher itself doesn't have any configuration options available. Would that affect any of this?

I sympathize with your problem. I'm using DSL with a 2Wire router and also cannot access IWP outside of our LAN. Certainly there's someone who knows what to look for to resolve this problem. It must be a common problem.

If you learn anything. Please let me know.

I also noted that you had it working with Verizon DSL. I'm using ATT DSL. Maybe you have a solution that would work for me. If you'll give me your contact info, I'll be happy to contact you.

One way to test it out to see if it's their static IP or not is to set up a free account with no-ip at http://www.no-ip.com/

When you're set up try using your new no-ip computer address followed by :591 and see if you can get in. If you can then there is a problem with their static IP. If you can't then it has nothing to do with the static IP and could be your router.
