posternutbag Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Just want to make sure I've got something straight here: Filemaker Pro 11, Advanced, and Server Advanced all have IWP, but the plain Server version does not?
IdealData Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Correct. Note also that FMP and FMPA have maximum 5 IWP clients, whereas FMSA allows 100.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 If you are going to be using IWP in a production mode, I would strongly suggest that you use FIleMAker Server Advanced. Don't even think about peer to peer. Steven
posternutbag Posted September 29, 2011 Author Posted September 29, 2011 Forgive me for asking, then- What is the benefit of FM server (non-advanced), over FM advanced (non-server)?
IdealData Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 There are many benefits - when the feature differences become important to YOU.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Forgive me for asking, then- What is the benefit of FM server (non-advanced), over FM advanced (non-server)? FileMaker Server, either standard or advanced versions, provides for the safe and reliable hosting of up to 125 files with automated backups, server side script execution, and encryption of data in transit. Depending on the server version it also allows for multiple simultaneous connections of at least 250 users. FileMaker Pro, either standard or advanced, does none of this. Steven

Given the price difference, I can get over not having IWP.
