IWP interface dependent on browser?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

when I IWP my database and use IE8 all my fields and layout objects are aligned perfectly. People that take a look at the pages tell me different though and I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there are differences in published pages depending on if a different browser like Safari or Firefox is used?

Thanks,

Andy

Quite possibly yes...

IWP does a lot of coding to try and render the pages as similarly as possible, but different browsers interpret those instructions in subtly different ways. For a simple layout, you should be able to get it looking the much the same across browsers and platforms, but anything with any complexity will probably look a little different. The most obvious is probably font rendering, especially if you use a non-standard font, across platforms - a word will be slightly different sizes, which will then throw out the input box next to it, for example.

IOW - if you want pixel perfect on all browser/platform combinations, IWP is probably not the answer.

Thank you webko; that's what I thought. I have treid to keep eveything as simple and straight forward as possible but there still seems to be a few hickups. Habe to live with it until I get to CWP.
