When moving from FM 11 Pro Adv to FM 12 Pro Adv (just purhcased today in fact) is it necessary to uninstall FM 11 first? Or can I just overlay install the new ontop the old?

You do NOT need to uninstall earlier versions of FileMaker. In fact, you can have multiple copies of FileMaker and versions on your hard drive.

OK, Lee thank you. That's going to make it a bit easier to work on the new system while the old keeps cranking.

I'm using Windows. When I get to this new install, can I assume that a new set of icons will be set and that my old shortcuts/icon will still be working?

Yes, FM12 has different icons and does not affect any existing shortcuts
