I've searched the forum and there has been a lot of discussion around it but couldnt find the answer. It's about the list limitation of 5 records (list) and 20 records (table) which you can see when accessing via IWP. How can I resolve this item?

ok, but I am working just with one database and a portal is always referring to an external database? or am I wrong

No, you can have a portal that refers to the same table, and you can have the results only show the fields of a particular layout, you will specify all of this in the create portal dialog box.
