FM Server 5, FM Unlimited 5, AppleShare IP 6.3... SSL?

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I have searched through the forum and I haven't been able to locate some info on this. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would very very grateful.

We have FM Server hosting our databases, with Unlimited hosting a few that we have some CDML pages for. We are also using AppleShare IP for internal web/email and file services.

We now have the need to have a new database available on the web, via some CDML files, that we can securely enter data into.

I have checked into VeriSign

I recommend using Web Star Server. It uses port 80 and can also support SSL on port 443.

You will need to use Lasso (as opposed to Web Companion) so that you can use the port 443 which happens to be secure.

I don't think you can secure Web Companion.

I'm not sure about what Web Server Connector does. That might be an alternative to Lasso... but I'm not sure!

Hope this helps.... smile.gif" border="0 good luck.

If you use WSC you can run your FMP site through SSL, as long as they are hitting your domain. The actual request from the web server to the unlimited box is not secure though, just from the web server to the web client. You do not need Lasso, although there is more functionality with IIS using lasso.
