Open Remote Via TCPIP

Featured Replies

I'm trying to find out if it is possible to open a remote file over the internet and have it run as though you were on a local network. The reason for this search is the solution I'm working on for my company will be mainly used on a LAN. But some of us need to access the data via internet.(mobile broadband) I've been creating different layouts for each. One that will work in the office and then another that is web freindly. If it were possible to have FileMaker installed on our mobiles and have just the data shared remotely it would be a "God Send!"

Any imput any FM Guru might have would be eternally appreciated.

Thanks,

Mel

If the files are being hosted on a local network. You could VPN into the network and work on the live files that way.

Thanks for the reply Audio! I'm still wiping tears from my eyes from laughing so hard at your Hip-Hop Cat! That's cute!

Since I know almost nothing about Virtual Private Networking, could you point me in the right direction as to where I could go to learn about it and set one up?

Thanks,

Mel

First I would find out if the network has a server that allows setting up a VPN connection. If you do it's not very difficult to set up. Heres a link that will get you familiar with vpn's. Google it, there are tons of tutorials out there.
