October 2, 200817 yr Trying to get IWP working with an interface file on FMSA 8 with the Data file on another server running FMS 8. I can log in with IWP and see the layouts but all of the fields say . Logging into the interface file using FileMaker client works fine and I can see all of the data with no errors. Is this not possible or is it a problem with the data server not running FMSA? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
October 3, 200817 yr The "fmiwp" extended privilege needs to be switch on in ALL the files in your system.
October 3, 200817 yr Author I had IWP privileges enabled already. Would both servers have to have the web publishing engine running or only the server with the interface file? My thinking is that only the server with the interface file would require the web publishing engine as the interface to data connection would be FileMaker to FileMaker not web.
October 3, 200817 yr I found this in the FMS9 documentation: When you deploy FileMaker Server across two or three machines, one machine is always the master and the others are workers. * The master machine is always the machine on which the Database Server is deployed. * The worker machines are the machines that run the Web Publishing Engine and the web server.
October 3, 200817 yr Author It is not really deployed across multiple machines it is two separate servers one FMSA 8 with FileMaker Server and the Web publishing Engine hosting the interface file and the other FMS 8 with FileMaker Server hosting the data file.
October 3, 200817 yr Author I am thinking that it may be a port issue between the servers. I did a fresh install of FMSA 8 on local Mac and hosted the interface file and am able to connect through it using IWP and CWP to the data file hosted on the external server. The default instal that I just did runs through port 80 while the other FMSA server that I was trying was using another port for IWP.
October 7, 200817 yr I had a similar problem, and determined it was privileges. I had set up users with varying sets of privileges set up in the gui file, and received the error when returning to the browser. The problem went away when I mirrored the users in the data file. Not sure if there's an easier way to mirror users (manually will get tedious after a while), but it was my quick fix.
November 6, 200817 yr Newbies I am having a similar problem where I can not access a second file. Both files are hosted on the same server, both are using an account with privilege set=[full access] and I have enabled IWP on both privilege sets. the go to layout and then select window does nothing. File A says perform script x in file B File B says go to layout x; select window current.... I am using FMSA 9 to host the files.... what could be going wrong? When I log into the server via the web I see both files... I can access both files with the same U/P via the web.
