Jasmine Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Hello all, I'm new to IWP and was hoping you could help me with a (hopefully) simple question. My database (which uses the separation model) is accessible via IWP, but all of the buttons to add, edit, etc. are greyed out. Permissions on my gui and data files are fine, users are set up fine -- it all works fine in FMP, but not when accessing it via IWP. Any ideas? Thanks! Jasmine
IdealData Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 You didn't mention about the EXTENDED PRIVILEGES. Did you turn on the "fmiwp" extended privilege for the USERS and ALL FILES.
Jasmine Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 Yes, each of the files (1 gui and 2 data) have the fmiwp turned on the Extended Privileges for each user.
IdealData Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Can you post some screen shots of the FMP and IWP presentation, or possibly provide a URL to your database. There are quite a number of issues regarding graphics rendering in IWP, but I never saw buttons greyed out.
Newbies fmtiger Posted October 9, 2008 Newbies Posted October 9, 2008 I have exactly the same problem on FM Adv Server. Even a New Record Button does not work. Checked all Privileges, but nothing helps...
Vaughan Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Is guest access enabled for the files? If so what is the guest privilege? What account do the users connect to IWP with?
Newbies fmtiger Posted October 9, 2008 Newbies Posted October 9, 2008 Guest account not enabled. Even when I log in as Admin, its all grey exept Sort and Show All. Home and Search is active, the Pencil is grey. Any idea? Thanks.
Jasmine Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 I've tried a couple of things: 1) Guest and Admin accounts enabled. Each user has fmiwp extended privileges. 2) Created a "Web" privilege set with everything enabled. Assigned to Guest. Removed fmiwp from Admin. This is the setup that's in the FMServer_Sample.fp7 database. Neither work with my databases, though #2 works only on the sample database, which is making me wonder if it's really a permission set at all.
Vaughan Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Do the layouts have restrictions applied to them? Can you add records to the server sample database? Can you create a test file and IWP it to see if it works? BTW where are the database files located? On the desktop, in the FMP application folder? They may need to be in a particular location for IWP to work.
Jasmine Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 Do the layouts have restrictions applied to them? There are no layout restrictions in any of the databases. Can you add records to the server sample database?Yes' date=' the sample db works as expected. I've identically mirrored the users and privileges from the sample database into my databases and it still doesn't work. Can you create a test file and IWP it to see if it works? I created a test database, and after setting up the users and privileges identically to the sample database, it did not work. I just copied the sample database and added the tables of one of my databases in it, and it worked, but I'd rather not have to recreate my table structures and forms in the sample db (lots of tables and complex relationships).
Jasmine Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 I bit the bullet and am recreating all of my dbs using copies of the sample. Thank you for trying :
Newbies fmtiger Posted October 10, 2008 Newbies Posted October 10, 2008 It is not in the Privileges or so: it is in FM Server, because when I use FM9 Adv on the same computer the database works fine... I keep on testing
