Force Filemaker to Start w/o Instant Web Publising?

Featured Replies

is there a way to startup filemaker without the webpublishing and sharing features on? I was using these features fine, but then suddenly they started preventing the program from even starting up. I get a "please change port" option, but no port works that i have found yet.... i've tried the 591 FM port and 80, and 100, and 5003, etc. but no change. Every time i enter the port the program closes without message.

So is there a back ground way to flip "off" the web sharing and network sharing options? Maybe a plist file somewhere?

Also, for more info, when i have the console open and do this i get the error:

[color:blue]com.filemaker.client.advanced connect() failed in child: Connection refused

also i get this one:

[color:blue]com.apple.launchd[107] ([0x0-0x2d02d].com.filemaker.client.advanced[573]) Stray process with PGID equal to this dead job: PID 581 PPID 1 fmiwppf

any help here? I'm really stuck. I've re-installed and un-installed several times, to no effect. (each uninstall was with an appcleaner that's supposed to take away all extension files related)

PLEASE HELP. so screwed, and boss needs this up and running for him by the end of the week....

Welcome to the forums, Seth.

I'm not certain what your setup is. Do you have a FM Server? Or, are you sharing the file from a client using peer-to-peer networking?

The plist and prefs files are in:

~/user/library/preferences

~/user/library/preferences/FileMaker Preferences

remove the plist and prefs files and see how it goes.

Turn off network and web sharing in FMP through File > Sharing.

Sorry for the late reply. It seems the pref files did the trick. thanks!
