July 26, 201114 yr Good Morning all, I have a database that's 18 gb and i removed about 3000 records out of 6000, but my database size only change from 18gb to 16gb. it should off removed about 8gb!!!. how can i have the server resize the database? does it do it automatically? i have FM server 11 advance. thanks Nestor
July 26, 201114 yr Closing the database, then opening it again will cause it to release unused space. If you have already done that, then another option is to save a compact copy. Perhaps others can chime in on this, but I think there is the possibility for data corruption when you do this, so you should make sure your new file is ok before you use it. I don't know the details about this, nor do I know if this is accurate.
July 26, 201114 yr how can i have the server resize the database? does it do it automatically? FileMaker Server does not perform this function. Close the files, stop the server, and open the file in a copy of FIleMaker Pro. You can then save a compressed copy from the File Menu-->Save A Copy As... Having deleted half the records before doing this probably was not the best approach. So it may take a while for the Save A Copy As process to run. Steven
