Hi All,

My client has given a set of filemaker files which are "FP7" extension.I'm trying to open these files using "FileMaker Pro 12",after the file is converted to FMP12 also i get errors saying "either the host is not available or the file is not available on the host."post-108365-0-84192700-1363343590_thumb.

Can anyone please help me.

Thanks,

Rajee

My guess is that one of the files references a file that you do not have or it is still looking at the previous path.

Hi Bcooney,

Thanks for the reply. Is there anyway to check which file it references to to? I'm a newbie to filemaker,so it will be helpful if you can give me more details.

Thanks,

Rajee

You are a newbie and yet you are the developer responsible for converting a solution from .fp7 to .fpm12?  :hmm:

Anyway, File>Manage>External Data Sources.

Needless to say you need to open the solution in FM11 to check the old file's references.

Also, are you trying to convert one file at a time or a whole folder of them at once?

Hi Wim,

I'm trying to open 'one file' at a  time. Is it mandate to first open these 'fp7' files using FM11 and then with FMP12?

You're confusing the two separate things that are in the thread.  Opening the files in FM11 was mentioned so that you can check and modify the file references.  It is not needed for conversion per se.

Try to put all the fp7 files in one folder and then drag and drop that folder to FM12 to see if it will convert all the files together instead of separately.

Thanks Wim,I'm clear now.But neither dint work for me.

I tried opening the 'fp7' files using both the FM 11 and FM 12 but both the time i was thrown up with the same error saying "Either the host is not available or the file is not in the host".

Once you have the fp7 file open in 11, you should be able to check the list of file references to see where it expects the related file to be:

File > Manage > External Data Sources
