My testing indicates that FTPeek doesn't handle spaces in folder names - I can e.g. not get it to list the files in a folder where the name contains spaces. Is this a known limitation? Is there any way to escape spaces etc? What other characters are supported? I tested "ö" [ö, or Code (246) in FileMaker], and that didn't work either. FileZilla doesn't handle ö properly either, so I'll forgive you for that. But unlike developers, actual users do tend to put just about anything in file/folder names.

Hi, I can't find informations on how to use FTPeek using IWP. I can upload files using FileMaker Pro with its plugin, but apparently the script doesn't work using the same layout via IWP. I tried a script to upload from a container and a script to upload choosing a local file. Both work fine in FileMaker Pro. Is it possible to upload using IWP (and maybe I'm doing something wrong) or not? Many thanks

Hi everybody, I'd like to hear what your experience is when it comes to canceling FTPeek operations, more precisely, letting users cancel the download of a file half-way through. I haven't been able to figure out a way to do this - and FileMaker not being able to multi-task certainly doesn't help. Ideally I'd want to do this with just normal user abort (escape key). From what I see, FileMaker either doesn't register the escape key at all while an FTPeek operation is on-going, or possibly registers but only reacts to it but only later. I'm going to do some tests on this, but if anybody has experiences, please let me know. A specific question would be the D…

Hi guys, is there any (probably undocumented) way to show a custom info instead of the path/filename in the progress bar window? I have a lot of files with uuids as filenames and this looks a bit confusing to the users. Alexander

I am wondering if anybody has noticed this, so I can narrow it down to my servers. For example, if I use the included FTPeek Sample Client to connect to my server: When I use the Sample Client locally, it connects to my FTP and lists the files in about 3 seconds. If I upload the Sample Client to my FM server and try to connect to the same FTP server, it takes almost 2 minutes to connect, and another 10 seconds to list the remote files. When disconnecting, it shows me that it is deleting the records that made up the directory listings which takes another 15 seconds. Where I saw none of this scripting running when the Sample file was run on the FM c…

Hello, Many of the files I'm trying to upload with FTPeek have french characters inside the filename ('é', 'è', 'à', etc). When I'm trying to upload a file with these characters inside the filename, they are all replaced with question marks (?). For example, "Tééést.jpg" becomes "T???st.jpg". I am able to rename the files after the transfer by opening the ftp with Windows Explorer afterwards, but is there a way to keep those different characters? Is it a question of how Java is installed? Thank you for your time, Dave

  11. I am having a lot of trouble uploading from the temp directory. On occasion, it works, but usually, I get this message: /Volumes/Macintosh HD/private/var/folders/pP/pPhxSiXIHoaKII1Ca-wvEU+++TI/-Tmp-/S10/bth_frame30.jpg (No such file or directory) I know the path is good because I can do a send mail command and attach the file using the same variable. I can also see the file in the directory. Are the plus signs the problem? I am using version 1.532

Any experiences/ideas on how to best handle timeout issues with FTPeek? How to avoid timeouts to the extent possible, and how to handle the user experience in these cases. Is there a specific error code that FTPeek returns on timeout?

I love the FTPeek logs. Does anyone have a custom function or something to easily obtain the location of the log file irrespective of OS, runtime, FileMaker version, etc? I could write one myself I guess but I'm hoping to save some efforts on this one.

I have done my best now in two very long sessions what I have been doing wrong. I am trying to upload a file using the Upload File script as described in the FTPeek Sample Data Database I can ascertain that even when replacing fields with straight text I get the following error name of file; Permission denied You can see the slide bar appear, no movement. The error appears to be in the line "Set Field [Examples::ResultText; FTPeek_Upload" .......as per instruction The ftp settings are the same as the ones I use in cyberduck with success. Tips suggestions?

  18. Started by David Wikström,

I'm starting a new thread since this is a separate issue. I don't necessarily need high-ASCII/unicode characters to be supported. It would be nice, but if it depends on the ftp server setup, it sounds like a bit too much to ask from a plugin. What does seem reasonable to me is that, if I use FTPeek to create a folder name that it cannot create identically on the ftp server, FTPeek would detect that and return an error. Now, if I create a folder "Wikström", FTPeek tells me everything is fine but I actually end up with a folder called something like "Wikstr??m" (or at least that's the way FTPeek displays the name). And/or, it would be great to have a "safe mo…

Solved the previous problem i'm again here because I try to run a script from server sides, automated every day... The files to upload are store in a shared folder of a remote volume in a MacOSX Server 10.4 (FMServer 10 instead runs in a client 10.5) The permission are Read&Write for all but the plugin still returns an error (permission denied) How can I solve? Th problem is that in the 10.4 server there is not the user fmserver or the group fmsadmin Many thanks

I'm trying to connect FileMaker to a ftp server From my ftp client all worked well, so I think the FTP server il well-working. The plugin gives NO ERROR when it try to connect But when I try the simplest operation (download a file named "1.jpg" from the root folder). the plugin begins, creates a balck and empty file on my desktop (the destination) but then waits about 30 seconds and then gives me a timeout error. Do you know where the problem is? Many Thanks!

Hi All, Anyone know of any incompatibilities between FTPeek and the QNAP ftp server? FTPeek_GetFileList can't seem to get the file list, even when using the plug-in sample file. When you change directory to "ABC", for example, it is successful, but when getting the file list it returns "/ABC/" also instead of file1.xls, file2.xls, etc. The log files don't indicate any errors as well. The script works fine with other ftp servers though. Any settings i need to change in the FTP for it to work? Thanks in advance!

When I run as a server scheduled script, it succeeds in getting the file list from the FTP site, and moving the files to another folder on the FTP site. It fails to download the files. The same script works fine when running from a client on the same box as the server. Does FTPeek write a log anywhere? Any suggestions on how to analyze the failure?

I have a situation and like to see whether FTPeek can help to solve. We are doing retail business and have stores all over the town. All retail stores are using Filemaker to do the Point-Of-Sales functions locally. At the end of the day, I want each store to FTP the daily sales summary ( a small FM file) to the main office FTP Server. I think this can be handled easily by FTPeek. My challenge is at the main office. I want to develop a FM Server script that will schedule to download all the uploaded file and update the main FM database for consolidation. Similarly, if there are any changes I want to make to the store's Filemaker, I will upload the changes( FM file) …

I have been given the info to connect to a directory with a path rather than an FTP URL (if this makes sense). Like this: Host: s99ibtst1estore Location: /s99ibshared/tst1/estore/fmp/output This is to connect to a directory within a corporate network to grab files dropped there for us to process... Do I need to get IT to set this up as an FTP enabled directory? Do I need a numeric IP address? Help.... Mark
