I'm trying to end a loop script with a timer. I've developed a little game for the children and their friends, something and nothing but they love it. However I'm struggling to end a loop script step to make the game work properly. Upon Clicking the 'Go' button, the below script runs. First it generates a random number that will be used as the seconds for the timer. The timer begins, then the script keeps looping through the records, pausing for 2 seconds (the records just being a name and a funny picture of each child). Once the seconds have ran out, this could be 8 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds etc depending upon what random number is generated, whic…

I want to create buttons that will go inside a chart and change the x-values and the sorting option. Is this possible? For example I created a Chart called Post, it works fine. Now I want the same Chart to change to Sections if I click a button, and then Change again to Genders with another button. The first current Chart is working now with Post, how can I create a script to change the Chart to other x-values and sorting?

Hello, I have searched high and low and can't come up with an answer to this. Hopefully I will explain it correctly. I am trying to create a universal navigation bar. I have a separate navigation table to do this so any changes I make in that table will carry across the entire database and I don't have to paste the bar on every layout. On my layouts I have 2 navigation bars. Both have a graphic and label to show where they are. One is used to navigate between modules (Jobs, Accounting, Warehouse etc.). I have a table Doc with Documents stored with their titles. I link Docs to other Docs showing their relationship, e.g. Doc 2 is supplemental to Doc 1. I do this with a Join table DocLinks with 4 fields: fkDoc1, Relation 1, fkDoc2, Relation 2. The latter 2 fields are linked to the table Doc 2. I want to be able to see that relationship in the portal when I view Doc 2 in the main Doc Layout without having a separate portal. How do I achieve in Filemaker the equivalent of this SQL Statement? I have a simple database with Field Staff Name, Gender and Office Division. Then I wanted to create a Chart that will show how many staff are on each Division. I am thinking of a Bar Chart or a Pie Chart. I have no experience working with Charts so if you could please help me with this simple one and I will try my best to build maybe a complex chart later. Is there a way to "find" across all tables in FM? I have an art database which has a welcome page, leading to 3 tables- painting, sculpture and furniture. But some items in these three areas are made by one artist- eg. Frank K may be the artist for a sculpture and a painting. So on the welcome page, I'd like to have a universal find box and you could click in and type, to search for "Frank K" and find his material in the sculpture table and in the painting table. Is this possible? Thanks.

Hello All, I am running Filemaker 2023 on a windows 10 machine. I need to import from an excel file (xlsx) but the sheet has multiple worksheets within it. I need to be able to import from a specific sheet through scripting. It will be a weekly report and the worksheet name will change. Is this possible using a path variable? Thanks in Advance Mike

I have a document management layout that manages several different versions of a document in the record. I don't want the field with the doc name to be a button as i need to access the field for other purposes. So I want to use a single script for multiple buttons opening the file in one particular field using a Script Parameter for the field name. So I set a variable $Field as Get (Script Parameter). Now i want the script to tell it to get the content of the relevant field. Previously, my Filemaker allowed me to click "Learn" for a word that is highlighted as spelt wrong. Now "Learn" is greyed out. How would that happen and how can I get it back? Thanks

Hello, I wonder if, beyond the wonderful shiny new bells and whistles, have any of these long standing issues "under the hood" been addressed in FMP2023? -Insert newly defined fields at the insertion point instead at the bottom of the list (database manager)? -Define the name of a button by calculations? -Create something like an index of defined variables so calculations show error if variables are mistyped? -Possible to make the “hand over button” option the default? -Make the Button Setup window resizable, like other setup windows so long script names are fully visible?
