I run FM Pro 13 and connect to a remote database. All is well, but it invariably crashes when I try to export.

The database is a custom database in FM Server 13. If I were to update my cliente to FM 16, will I be able to access my remote database, or is there another way out of the crashing problem

With anything, you should run the highest version capable.

FileMaker 16 showcases the new OS on their page here:

I haven't upgraded yet from 10.12 but I have no doubt it'll work fine.

Thank you @doughemi

I can't change the server, but I'm willing to get either FM Pro or FM Pro Advanced 15

I can't find a download or purchase page. Where are they for this now legacy product?

What is the advantage of getting the advanced versus the simple version. I'm not going to change the remote server I need to connect to. I have several simple flat databases I developed that have no particular requirements

FM 16 isn't compatible with server 13

Working to upgrade to 16. Clients have old OS

Okay, updated server OS to El Capitan and FM Server to FM server 16. I can access the server remotely with FM Pro 15 but when I try to connect with FM Pro 16 I get a note that it is not encrypted. What do I do now?

thank you

With FMS 16, you also need to import the intermediate cert. That was not required before.

Thanks. How do I do that and where do I get it

It would come in the bundle with the cert file. Who is your SSL provider?
