Anyone using IWP happily?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am finally moving into FM7( I know it's late). I had too much invested in FM6 to make the transition.

Anyway, i am looking it now. FM7 IWP seems very promising but I am getting a lot of bugs using it Safari. And most other developers have problems as well.

Is there anyone using FM7 IWP successfully in a production environment? If it's a public site, can you please give us the URL to have a look at? I am looking into developing a B2B catalog for resellers. It's just for displaying pricelist and searching. I am giving it a go but there are just too many problems with IWP.

Many thanks in advance.

My experience is that FMP7 IWP only works well with Internet Explorer. I have bumped into anomalies with both Safari and Firefox, so regretably, I've told my users to only use IE. Things seem to work quite predictably (let's say consistently) with IE, though I continue to find functions (e.g. Get (AccountName) ) that do not work as I expect.

Internal to my company it's working really well.

I will admit that IE is the only browser that is SOE, so thats what everyone uses. Still, I'm very happy with it so far.

Requires patience finding work arounds to some of the glitches, but most Filemaker Developers are used to inventing those sort of tricks anyway smile.gif

hfinger, what problems are you having with Get(AccountName)? I rely very heavily on that, and so far it has worked flawlessly.

Cheers,

Sean.

It is very promising, but extremely buggy on IE when doing more than just simple pages. Open URL comes to mind, completly useless and I still have not found a work around. (appends HTTP to everything except mailto!), also, for some unknown reason, fields become unenterable.

I have been working on converting FM 6 to 7 along with trying to understand the best way to use IWP. I continue to host my database to my clients on FM 6 Unlimited with CDML. There is no need to move right now from a stable solution to one that has many bugs along with figuring out work arounds for plugins that work great with FM 6 Unlimited, but not with FM 7 Server Advanced.

I will continue the work on IWP because in the long run I think it will be worth it. I hope that FileMaker has been listening to this forum along with others and are busy right now righting the wrongs. They made such a huge leap from IWP in FM 6 to FM 7, but obviously from the many posts in this forum, have much more work to do.
