Kevin Cheesman Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 How do I serve FileMaker through a router? I can access the IWP from my network, but not from outside it. Kevin
Osman Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 You should configure your router. Router must be redirect incoming requests to server's local ip address. It is enough to redirect only used port for IWP (80 or 591)
Kevin Cheesman Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 Thanks for the reply. I'm new to this so just to clarify, do I set the IP address that my ISP have give me to redirect to 192.168.0.3:591 which is FileMaker on my local machine? So, if someone wants to access my database, they type in my ISP given IP address, (http://***.***.***.***) it goes to the 192.168.0.3:591 which is FileMaker on my iMac? Will doing this impact on anything else on my network? Kevin
Newbies bayoyong Posted August 31, 2006 Newbies Posted August 31, 2006 Did you ever get this to work? I am trying to use iwp on my mac and can't seem to get it to work. No one outside my network can see it. Tried ports 591 and 5003. Thx.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 For web publishing use Port 80. For FileMaker Pro client access use Port 5003. In some instances when using web publishing Ports 16008-16018 must also be opened. See the Web Publishing Guide that comes on the Server Advanced CD. Steven
SedonaMTB Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 In order to share your files outside your local network you will need a static IP address which you can purchase through your Service Provider. You can also get a dynamic IP address for free but this is much harder to set up. Once you get your static IP address get instructions from the router company on how to set this up. Linksys for example.
