albertomichieli Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 1 I am trying to see the database on the internet outside the lan [lan is working fine] but when I put the ip address xx.xx.xx.xx:591 or the dyndns account myfilexx.cc:591 it does not show up I have setup in the machine Mac OS X also http inside folder /Library/Webserver to publish simple websites and I can see them 2 Is it possible to have also IWP and FileMaker Server running same time?
IdealData Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 1. Is your firewall or router blocking port 591? Have you correctly mapped the public IP to the internal IP? If you enabled web sharing and the firewall then the default settings do not include port 591. 2. FMS and FMP can't be run on the same machine at the same time - so, no. You neeed FMS Advanced.
albertomichieli Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 this is the machine dmaserver02.ftpaccess.cc How to map the internal ip to the external ip? I have a netgear router WGR614 v5 Thank you very much
T-Square Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Check out the router manual, a copy of which can be found at: http://www.engin.umich.edu/labs/EAST/@home/Project/Wireless/wgr614v5_ref_manual.pdf Chapter 7 discusses "port forwarding". HTH David
Stuart Taylor Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I always go to Portforward.com it steps you through pretty much any setup on any router very cool...
Allison Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Hi there, Just a quick question on port forwarding. Does it matter what you put in your "service_name" for the customised service in the router forwarding? And does this particular service_name get referenced anywhere? Or is it just a label that can describe for the administrator what it is for? Thanks in anticipation. Allison
