dodsonmd Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I'm searching for a web hosting service that supports FMPro. I have a simple file (<300K), with a very low (<30) number of users that require very brief access, but need to edit the records. So I could certainly host the file using just the FMPro application on my home computer, but...... My current website host only supports MySQL, and my current ISP only offers dynamic IPs to personal accounts. The ISP suggests that I purchase (of course) a business account that would provide a static IP address. But that would require another computer to remain dedicated to that IP address. My hope is to find a web hosting service supporting FM, and I would gladly transfer my website to them, and use my file directly from their servers. Any ideas appreciated. John
Søren Dyhr Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I have been using this during a development, and was very impressed with the way the you could interact with the hosting done on your behalf: http://www.triple8.net/hosting_filemaker.htm --sd
Sunshein Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I have been using MacUSA.com, and have been very satisfied.
IdealData Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Both the hosting points quoted above are recognised, and I also use 888. I suppose there is the possibility that your <30 users could all be active at the same time so you need a plan that offers at least this level of access. So, hosting via FileMaker Pro is ruled out as there is a maximum of 9 guests at any time, you will need a hosting service using FM Server. Have a look at www.dbdom.com
Genx Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Also have to mention www.fmgateway.com and www.pointinspace.com (two i've dealt with). FMGateway is quite cool because you can upload your own DB's and open up the files without needing to deal with the providers.
