IWP link on website does not take me to login screen

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm relatively new to filemaker, I inherited a FM database in my new job.

We're using IWP to give our clients access to certain information in our DB. We're having a problem where we click on the IWP link that should take us to the login screen for the given DB. However, when we click the link it merely refreshes the screen. This happens in IE 7, Firefox, but not in Opera.

I'm thinking this is somehow related to javascript because when I disable javascript in firefox, it will take me to the login page, but will only show the login boxes.

We're using Filemaker Server 9.0.3 running on Windows 2000 SP4 with IIS 5. Thanks!

You won't get far with IWP if you disable JavaScript, as the IWP pages are heavily dependent on JS to render.

I don't really know why it would work in one browser vs. another. Try clearing the browser cache maybe?

Tried clearing the caches in both firefox and IE, no dice :B

Why not tell where your web site is and where the FMP link is - then we can all test it for you.

It worked for me. Can you go to the login page directly?

Are you blocking popups?

I tried going to the page directly, but it still just takes me back to the first page to click on the client portal. I've disabled popups in both IE and Firefox and the same thing results.

No, you need to ENABLE popups.

Maybe you have some other security settings turned on that are interfering?

Works in Safari too.

I'm sorry, I mistyped, I did enable popups with the same result. I'm wondering if it might be an internal DNS issue since you guys seem to be having no problems externally.

That's what I am thinking too - but it won't account for your clients not being able to access the IWP - I presume they are also external?

If you suspect DNS then work around it by using the internal IP as the substitute for the domain.

If that works then you have an internal DNS problem.
