Another instance of Filemaker is running?

Featured Replies

When I try to turn on IWP within FM11 Advanced I get the following error:

"Filemaker pro cannot start instant web publishing because filemaker server or another instance of filemaker pro is running on this machine."

This, of course, is not true. Which is why I'm posting. I previously had a copy of FM10 Advanced installed on this PC. I installed a copy of FM11 Advanced using an upgrade disk. When this problem occurred I thought it may have been because it was still seeing some leftover files from the previous installation.

So, I completely uninstalled Filemaker and even went through the registry removing all references to it. I reinstalled FM11 Advanced using the same upgrade disk. (It allows you to do this by simply providing a valid FM10 cd key). So now there is only a single version of FM11 Advanced installed, but the problem remains. Please help.

If you are using Filemaker Server to host your files then you can login to the Server with the Admin client and disconnect the bogus user.

This thread is 8 years old. To fix this problem i would suggest uninstall and reinstall FMS.
