carlosnorvik Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Hi everybody Merry Christmas to all !! Just out of curiosity I checked file verions used in the first 3 pages of top posters and then the first 4 pages of posters with less than 100 entries. This does not pretend to be a scientific study of version usage, just a snapshot out of pure curiosity! Results: Top posters Top 3 versions 13 = 10% 12 = 28% 11= 16% File Format 7 = 50% 12 = 38% Older = 12% Top posters with < 100 entries Top 3 versions 12 = 38% 11= 28% tie 7/8/9 = 16% File Format 7 = 66% 12 = 31% Older = 3% Overall 12 = 66% 11= 44% 9 = 30% File Format 7 = 59% 12 = 34% Older = 7%
bcooney Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Huh? What version I work in depends on the client. Some are still on FM10, some on FM11 and I just started a FM13 project. What are you trying to capture with these stats?
Ocean West Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 If you are referring to the member's profile here as to what "version" they purport to use here on the forums - that may be skewed because it was only added to the site a the week FMP 13 was launched. And not everyone has updated their profile, most likely because they are too busy playing with FMP13. And for anyone who is doing consulting work like bcoony said - it really depends on the end client - I too have clients running FMP 6, and FMP 7 files still.
carlosnorvik Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 Hi Bcooney & Ocean West As indicated on the post, it is just a snapshot of what fmforums users are using, based on a few profiles, not trying to capture something in particular. Results obviously depend on users updating the info on their profiles. It is interesting to see however, that like in may other software applications, some users stick to oldies, at least some of the profiles showing old versions are accurate. All the best for 2014
Rick Whitelaw Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Even if the profiles are accepted as accurate, the users of a forum like this represent a small fraction of all FM users. As well, this group is more likely to stay current than the general user base.
