display a record number in a field

Hi

Anyone have an idea on how to display the Record number in a field?

I want the field to display the record number every time I got to the "Next or Previous" (scroll through) record.

and you can see options with Insert and then down towards the bottom.

Why does it have to be in a field (as opposed to being directly on the layout - as suggested by Charity above)?

I was more interested in them reading about the Get Functions, NOT the creation of fields, which is why I mentioned Charity post in mine.
