FM Starting Point - Bugs

Hello, The title pretty much says it all. When using the "Duplicate Invoice/Estimate" button in the three-dot-menu in the top box of the middle column any line items present are duplicated in the same invoice/estimate, whereas in all the other sections: Account, Contacts, Project, etc. when using the same DUPLICATE button, a new record is created with duplicate information. This seems to be the intended functionality and I am not sure why these 2 sections were coded differently. When examining the script for the "popover_menu_1: DUPLICATE button" it is clearly pulling LINE_ITEMS to duplicate. This seems off. I know enough to diagnose this issue this far, but sinc…

Hi , I'm testing the "add by barcode" function on invoices and estimates. On computer, no problem, everything works. On ipad, however, it does not work and I do not understand the problem. When I press "add by barcode" the window opens. I add some lines by barcode and by selection in the list. When I press "done", only the selected lines in the list are added to the invoice; lines added by barcode are not displayed. Does anyone have an idea to solve the problem? thanks in advance

I am still on FMSP 4.2v7 and FMP 13 so I understand if this is something that's not fixable or that you can't help me with. But I thought I'd bring it up in case it's something that I could resolve on my own with a nudge... I just updated my Mac to OS High Sierra and now FMP crashes when I do a number of things in FMSP. It consistently does so when I try to delete an invoice line item using the red X and also sometimes when I try to perform a search for a a project, account, or contact for the top part of the data invoice entry screen. I'm still using FM 13 so I'm using version 4.2 of FMSP. I've been using the solution for four years now and I am so grateful for it as it has really helped me organise my small business. I suspect a bug with extending FMSP, if you: Gererate an email or message of some sort with a URL to start FMSP via web-direct, and specify a script to run on startup. I was trying to point the user to the exact place they needed to be, to fill out a "form". The user might be new to FMSP so I wanted it as simple as possible. Web-direct documentation clearly specifies how to pass a database name, a script to run, and parameters and variable initialization. I tried to use the database name and script name to run options. Forgive me, I'm using a copy of FM Starting Point version 4.5. I haven't checked the newest version, but in version 4.5, the relationships window has the word occurrence misspelled multiple times as occurence (note the missing r). Just something I wanted to pass along. Thanks

I have just downloaded and installed FMSP 15 and when I try to send an email from the email module I just get Error 0 or to check my setup. I have tried to find where the email is setup but can't. Can you give me directions to set up my solution to connect with my email program on OS10.12 and Safari. Thank you

Hello, a coupld of days ago I was trying to get the email scripts to work, I configured the preferences to use email client (Outlook) but email would not send. So I tried using SMTP method, this would not work either. At some point trying to debug the issues, when I clicked on contact send email the 360works link came up and tried to install cloudmail, I did not with to use this feature!. I did finally get the email working through my gmail account. We patrol this forum periodically... but you want your bug to go to the head of the line... make sure you also submit it through the tool. I am running a customized version of Starting Point using version 2.1v8 with FileMaker 13.0v5. For some reason, recently whenever I send an email with an attachment, the attachment never gets sent. The email goes but without the attachment. Any ideas how to fix it?

All, I was using FMP 14Advanced, Database Design Report, to search for unused Value Lists (not used on any layout). I found out that a Value Lists is still reported as 'used' on a layout if a field had it assigned to it (i.e. CheckBox or anything else), BUT was then reverted to a normal Edit Box field. How can I permanently remove these VLs from being reported in the 'Value Lists' section, column 'On Layouts', or is this a bug in FMP14 Advanced? I'm in a catch-22 situation: to delete a VL, I have to be in Layout mode, select a Field, then pick CheckBox and edit the VLs. Then I delete the unused VL, and revert the field to an ordinary Edit Box. The problem i…

I am finding the documents popover window in the Projects tab will not open the enclosed files. I don't know enough about scripts, but I suspect that may be where the problem lies.

I tried to create a runtime bundle with SP4.6 and FM15. It worked fine with my older FM9 version using SP2.1, but I am getting a blank window when I start the runtime instead of the home screen. I know its creating something when I try to bundle the runtime because the custom closing splash screen pops up for the prescribed 2 sec. I've attached a screenshot of the window. SP4.6 runs fine in FM15 full. I'm very novice at programming and FM, even though I've had it since like version 4. I use it for very limited things, but it works great for what I need. But I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong creating the runtime. Any ideas?

Hi, I downloaded 4.5 and began to evaluate the features. I navigated to Preferences, email tab and setup the email for smtp. I created a record in contacts with my personal info and sent myself an email and received an error = 0 notice and the email failed to send but was created and related to my contact record. After reviewing the script, all looked good. I came here for support and found one related topic. One of the peeps that responded mentioned that if you hard code all info instead of referencing the smtp fields from preferences in the send mail script, the send mail worked. I am running FM Starting Point 2.1v8. It has beenmen working great for me for several years. Now for some reason when I try to send an email with an attachment using the green plus, the attachment shows up in the attachment line but it doesn't get sent with the email. Any ideas how to fix?

I thought I would just mention this. In the Entity Relationships Diagram (ERD), the T27_Payments anchor is connected by "id_invoice" to the Invoices buoy. The Invoices buoy is named "T12a_payments_INVOICES||id_invoice|" instead of "T27a_payments_INVOICES||id_invoice|".

Hi I am hoping someone will be able to guide me with an issue with the email estimate script in FM starting point. Of course everything was fine before we upgraded our Mac to Yosemite so that we can run Office 365 but now we have done this when we email an estimate a blank email is generated in the drafts folder of Outlook, addressed to the recipient, Titled correctly but does not contain the PDF estimate attachment, or any email body text. Obviously haven't changed anything to the script so its obviously some integration issue with the new Outlook - any advice is welcome Thanks Steve

On the iPad Accounts Data Entry Layout (L210). When you click on (Contacts In Same Account ) tab, there is a hidden button behind the arrow that is supposed to take you to Contacts Data Entry (L230). Instead it takes you to a WebDirect Layout (L530). The way you know your on the WebDirect Layout is that underneath the photo it says "Upload Photo". The fix is to delete the button. It is hard to find. In Layout Mode click the arrow then go left almost to the line of the portal and click you should get it. The calendar portion of FMSP no longer shows Calendar Todos. Despite having the field marked. I had to rename T19_todo, but that didn't break anything initially. is the show on calendar button a boolean check (currently i set that field as 1 during an import, but still Calendar view doesn't show ANY records. 4.5v2 release Aprox 5/23/15 Fixed Inventory Adjustment Bug... Bugs fixed from 4.5v1 were the inventory deduction control were broken due to my staff loading some addition on screen script triggers which stopped the Inventory adjustments. I've been trying to edit the time sheet entries, but it's displaying two problems 1. It didn't let me enter fields by hand in browse mode ( but marking it editable in find mode ddin't fix the problem either) the Staff name and project fields seem to be not working, and when the popups show up, it displays nothing and doesn't give me an option to select from it's found searches. 2. I produce invoices daily, so it's easier and quicker for me to create a duplicate invoice from an existing client invoice, update the line items, and change the invoice date and due date than to create a new invoice every time as I have to add the project, client info, payment terms, etc. etc. I noticed this morning that if I go this route, I am stuck with the date of the original invoice when it comes to saving my invoice as a PDF to send to the client. The new date 'sticks' on the entry form, but is not reflected in the PDF. Is it possible to fix this? I'm moderately savvy with tweaking FMSP to suit my needs. Thanks, Rae

Before I go ahead with this change, I want to be be able to Add Multiple Checkouts then return at the end. The system currently behaves that each check out needs a check in, Can I disable this behavior or should I add an Option for Multiple Route?

I am using FM Starter and have saved some PDF files in the Products containers. But when I try to open the files using the "Open" button I get an error that the file cannot be opened. IT thinks the PDF file is a png file. See attached screen shot. However if I right click on the container and click export I can open the file. Â IT seems other types of files I can open from the container but it seems to have a problem with PDF???

I am using Filemaker 13 and a CRM solutions from FM starting point. When entering a new project, the account lookup fails. THere is a blank line in the account list, and when I select an account, the item AFTER my selection is put in the field. When I look at my accounts table, there is no blank record. What is up.

I've saved FMSP as a clone and then added data for an account and a contact. When I create a To Do it won't post to the Calendar. If I save a copy of the FMSP solution and delete the records and then add an account and a contact there is no issue. I have many a number of adjustments to the layouts that I would rather not have to re-build. Where / what do I set to correct this? Many thanks for your excellent solution.
