My wife Amie and I arrived a couple of days early for vacation. The resort (JW Mariott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa) is beautiful, perhaps nicer than the one in Palm Desert. The heat has been pretty bearable (in the low 100s) with very low humidity and a nice breeze.

We drove here but got gas outside of Phoenix so we have not yet seen any problems in that regard.

The resort have a variety of restraunts, pools, water features and even a lazy river for tubing.

More updates to come directly from the FM Forums booth tomorrow!

Perhaps persumptious, but could you get us folks that cannot attend some sort of answer as to why FM has not responded to the issues related to Filemaker Server OSX. If there I would press them for some reasons why they have acknowledged an issue on their web site with no mention of when it will be fixed, if ever after such a long period of time.

Have a good time....JWM's are usually a good stay anywhere in the world.

Ahh I could tell you then I'd have to kill you. If the powers to be don't get to me first

Sorry, ya should have been here.

I cannot confirm nor deny any information.

So that means there was no 'public' announcement of FileMaker Pro 7 as DevCon is not a secret meeting of select people but any who can afford to go.

Maybe they are holding out.... even on those that are attending the DevCon.

I am sure news will filter out.... it is the nature of people to gossip after all. <grin>

Well....when is the software giveaway. I think it was Tuesday last year.

So, that is a possibility...but my money is on version 6 given away and maybe...just maybe a beta of any next release.

If any news tonight I think that is the FSA meeting so all NDA there.

And can anyone tell me what is with the no details on any sites like say FileMaker.com.

If I was running that site I would keep it upto date with snippets from the conference...maybe take off the register for DevCon links!!!.... kinda late for that now.

It is a crying shame when they can't share the information...... but then... .what is new!!!

As to Lets Play..... we are working on that....trust me. Also updating eBullet. Have added secure authentication to that now.

So please...bear with us.....

We can always start a pool on when news on 7 will come out. Who wants to set the odds for tomorrow?:

They included a copy of Filemaker 6 in the conference materials with no mention of any other product give-away.

The entire day has been spent discussing and previewing upcoming technology. I cannot elaborate, but it looks pretty awesome so far. No release date has been specified, but I think that we are look at a year or less.

Unhappy at DevCon?

Maybe it's just me because it's my first developers conference, but we spent the entire 1st day at what was a glorified sales presentation. It was cool to see new technology, but this was billed as a 3-day learning event and I'm not happy. We lost 3 conference sessions and out of 36 seminars only 4 are repeated. They could have run these "technology" sessions early in the morning or at the end of the day.

I can stay at home to read sales literature or check out the web for that kind of information. I come to these type of events to learn! Anyone else who's here at DevCon and feels the same way, please let them know.

Again, maybe I'm just being a kill-joy...

Live from DevCon 2003,

Mike.

No doubt! I think it was after lunch on Tuesday before I heard anything that I could actually use THIS year! I was at Devcon 2002 and LOVED it. I learned more in a half a day in Palm Desert than I usually get in a month. This year was like a big infomercial. Even some sessions that didn't indicate "new technology" to be discussed, were 50% new stuff that won't be out until next year. I thought it was a waste of time. I was able to squeeze out some practical info, but I wish I would have skipped this year and hit my boss up for approval in '04.

This first day didn't bother me. I like hearing about new stuff, but a couple of hours would have been plenty for me. I heard that one session's audience actually clapped when the speaker announced that no "new" technology would be discussed. Interesting.

Well, if FM crew announced "not new technology, but all bugs are ironed out for FMP 6.5" that I will understand smile.gif
