Hi I just picked up a new client still using FMP 4 with FMS 3. The server is critically unstable. The solution is mission critical. They have lost the FMS 3 CD (they still have the orginal letter from FileMaker with serial numbers, etc). I just need the FMS 3 media. Can anyone provide urgent assistance (FTP for example)? I rang FileMaker but they just thought I was joking (not really)!

Could anyone point me to a resource (book, web site, etc.) that has information about how to get started with building a SIMPLE calendar / schedule solution ? Or perhaps explain the basic schema ? I need to build a simple scheduler for a single user that has a bunch of timeslots on each day in which meetings can be booked. I don't need to display anything on a month layout. I would like to do build a daily view and a week view. I've just spent a long time trying to find a book/cd which will help me learn more about scripts and calculations. I came across Scriptology Demystified but it appears to be out of print. Can any one suggest where the book can be bought or similar reading?

If you really want to get into scripting I really like "Scriptology: Filemaker Pro Demystified." It is 7 years old and out of print, but has a lot of good stuff. I think used copies are going for $93.50 at Amazon. Probably overkill for beginners.

I am downloading credit card transactions into FMD7 and would like to categorize them in a Quicken-like fashion. In this case, if I've already categorized a payee, I'll like for future entries to inherit that category. If a payee hasn't been categorized, I'd like some easy way to easily do that. Rather than program this from scratch I've already started using Lookup), I'm wondering if anyone knows of a template that might have Quicken kinds of features already implemented. I don't know if anyone is familiar with the Quickbooks method of popping up a calendar-month, from the which the user can choose the date requested, but I was hoping to re-create something like that in FM7, or even better, modify someone's existing solution. I'm working on a simple database compared to most of what I see on this site. Does anyone know of a good book that explains and gives good examples of scripts, calculations, etc...? I can't seem to find solutions for most things that I want to do.

I'm working on a lead contact management application and would really like to be able to let the user set an alarm to remind them to do something. So, for example, the user could request an alarm for 3:40 pm on July 5, 2005. Then when that time came, a programmed event would be triggered of some sort. I've been searching both this website and others and can't find anything. There's not even a plug in or calendar ap that has this capability that I can see. I am trying to add a What's This? Help File to my Runtime Solution in Windows. There is nothing in the manual about it. Can I produce a layout specific one that will allow a pop-up help window whenever users select Shift-F1 (eg. Shift-F1 and mouse hover over a button: the pop-up help will explain what the button is about; or the same idea with a field) How do I do this? FM Developer produces a generic one that gives you generic pop-up help, but only for dialogue boxes. (I searched the forums for an answer but after the 15th page, I gave up!) Thanks.

I've found a lot of resources on CD - which is fine if you are at your computer. But time is lost while driving, hiking, showering (?) and other such things when I could be studying. I would like to get my hands on an audio of Special Edition for 7 book, or ANY book or anything that can pop into a walkman with headphones. I've never owned such a device but would buy one in a heartbeat if I could study FM on it. I would also like to loop-play these same tapes (or whatever is the current media-method) while I sleep. I need to keep track of software licenses and hardware warrenties, but need to be alerted somehow when the current date reaches within 90 days of the expiration date field. Is this possible? If so, please describe in detail. I'm a fairly experienced user, but only moderately in the script area. I have managed, however to follow instructions to make pretty complicated scripts and calculations work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dave

I'm planning on doing the FMP 7 certification very soon. I'd like to know what topics and areas the certification covers. The FMI web site gives no clues (or none that I can find) nor are there any sample questions on the Prometrics web site (the group that run the testing). If you've done the certification -- and passed -- I'd like to hear from you. It'd be a waste of money having to do the test twice -- the first time just to find out what's in the test, the second time to pass it -- but I will if I have to I guess. Thanks....
