Hi, We recently upgrade our FM 5.5 system to 9. In the process, we use Metadata Magic to scan our databases and warn of any possible error. Now that we in FM 9, I just wonder if there is a similar tool for FM 7 & up that would scan the database, give us a report of any fields or scripts that are not being use so we can do some clean up. I have, as a matter of survival, developed a FM DB which is a robust standards based lesson planner. It began with FM5.5v as a way to track standards for vocational students when I taught in Arizona. Over the years colleagues have suggested this be built into an SQL database but with a functional representation in FM. It will have to be SIF compliant. Hello all. Would like some input. We need to be able to track changes in a (fairly standard) client contact database. I've looked at Bob's "Yet Another Audit Trail" but I'm not sure that it fits the bill. What we need is a system which records when a user makes changes to a field. We need to know which user made the change, when, to what field, and the actual data that has changed, a before + current snapshot. It would be ideal to be able to display this information in a list form. Perhaps even with sortable columns and a simple search filter, one day. I couldn't find a fax solution, you FM'ers tell me to use a fax.com service-email to fax.. This or that company that no long supports fax,Vista or WinFax. I found email gaining, with Vista some vendors dropped their fax software support.. Final conclusion DEVELOPED my own server... its called efStar.. its new.. it outputs either email or fax with some Admin.. Use 2 files a txt for control & hmtl for the message area.. paired files any FM app can make. Any workstation cues a shared folder.. crude but versatile and the price will be under 100. I honnestly think it has great advantages over all other techniques I've seen so far, including plug-ins. It requires only a free script triggering plug-in only (such as DoScript or zippScript). It's open source (buy it, do what you want with it). It's cheaper than any plug-in. It's extremely easy to use.
