Im looking to create a chart who's y axis is based on times. I have a notes table with the following structure: starttime = auto enter timestamp endtime = set by script when user saves note (button on layout) totaltime = endtime - starttime I have also created another summary field called grandtotaltime = Total of totaltime I created a chart with the y axis as grandtotaltime and the y axis goes from 0, 10000, 20000, etc ... Is it possible to have the chart display the y axis in HH:MM:SS format? It seems that filemaker is ignoring the time formatting and displaying the y axis as a whole number Is what im wanting to do possible?

I have a chart that lists the sales by months. There is a data set for the current and last 3 years. I am accomplishing this with calculation fields that create a delimited set of data. The current year's data obviously isn't complete so the graph just nose dives to zero for future months. Is there a way to have the current year's line be partial and not plot future months? The sales guys always jump a little inside when they see that initially.

Hi all, Say I have a database with 30 records, one for every day of the month. Within each record I can enter if I've exercised that day and for how long. What I would like is in a separate layout to have a graph, Y axis being how long I exercised and X axis being 0-30. The problem I run into is that I end up with the graph only showing me the days I exercised and not all the days. Any ideas?

I've setup my first chart and would like to tweak it a little but am not sure how or if what i want to do is possible. The chart references calls done for the day. On the x axis is the user and on the y axis is the number of calls they performed. the x axis is set to read the Username_Created field. Using a calculation, how could i narrow down the users displayed? For example, lets say i have users A-Z. I want to show the users on the x axis with the exception of lets say user L, user Q and user X. Thanks in advance

[color:red]This is my chart: [color:red]This is what im trying to get: Notice how on the right it shows a treeview all the records that are related to the values being charted. and also you can see how the label data are shown on the side of the chart which is good cause as seen in my chart the labels are overlapping a bit, and it gets worse when there is more. from playing around with the chart tool ive found it to be pretty limited, but i know i don't know al…

Hi, I'm new to charting. I've been trying to create a bar graph to show average sale price per quarter for houses. I've done the following relationships : analysis (pkAnalysis, ...) elements (pkElementID, fkAnalysis, fkSaleID, ...) sales (pkSaleID, price, quarter, ...) The layout is on analysis. How can I do bar chart using the quarter for the X-axis and the average price per quarter for the y-axis? Thanks

I have an odd issue with charting on a list view. We have a capacity file that looks at several outside files for data and computes a % capacity for manufacturing for the day. We had been generating a graph like graphic using |||||| characters (1-100) without issue for years. When we upgraded to FMPA11 in an XP environment we utilized the new charting tool to replace the old homebrew model. The layout in question is a list view layout, each record represents a work day and has a chart to display capacity. all values used in the chart are local to the table. The issue: When i navigate to the layout in question, it seems to grab a hold of a lot of resourc…

  13. I am trying to make some charts to show revenue by client over the last year or so. In principle, I have a working solution with the relevant summary fields, layouts, etc. The problem is that I have a lot of data and the way I was doing this is not working any more - it just takes too long. In the last year I have about 60,000 invoice records and 2000 client records. I am trying to show revenue and profit for these clients based on totals from their related invoices. I have a layout to show all this data but basically I need to filter out data for a load of the clients who are less important. Ideally, I want to be able to show the data by client for all clients who r…

  15. Does anybody know if it is possible to get a pie chart to work when pulling data from different fields on the same record, as opposed to one field across the found set? I'm trying to get a pie chart showing FieldA (Value 20) FieldB (Value 30) FieldC (Value 10) Funny enough, it works with Bars, just not with Pie... PS: the numbers in these fields come from different RS which count records in related tables. This is the home screen of the database with stats.

But un chapter 7.3 about charts, even if I cautiously selct, copy under Mac PDF reader and paste under FMP the X and Y series definition, I don't get the right result. Is it possible to get a support from FMP training series ? Or may I give access in this forum to the exercise and solution FMP files through an FTP access ?

This is a followup to a thread I started below regarding stacked column charts. I had successfully created a stacked chart using the overlay method, but the automatic colour palettes made a mess of the whole thing. At the time, I was just toying around with it, but now I need a solution. There should only be 2 colours across all the columns-no variations in shades. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. The only way I have had any luck is by creating separate charts for each column and sticking them side by side. This is not an elegant solution and rather cumbersome. Any ideas?

Anybody play with the new charts much? I've been working with them a bit and I'm stumped on one thing I'm trying to do. For simplicity, let's say I have a company with three factories. I have a table where three records are added each week, one for each factory. In each factory's record are that week's production goals, and at the end of the week they record how many widgets they produced. I created a line chart to show the goals for each month using a summary field. To keep it easy, I performed a find for just one factory and sorted the records by week. I got a nice line graph just like I wanted. However, I am unable to add the other factories to the …

Hi, I am quite new to filemaker and decided to try and build my own financial reporting system. I am having several issues, but right now my main problem is getting reports out of the data. I am trying to build a Pie Chart in my "month sub-summary" part. I'm trying to create a dashboard consisting of several charts on a single layout. The issue I'm running into is that each chart requires the data to be sorted differently. I want to do some charting of data in a medical EMR program I have in FMP 10. On the x axis I want various dates spanning several years, for example March 31 1997, feb 6 2000, july 10 2009 and dec 3 2009. The time between data points is variable. On the y axis I want numbers representing a particular blood test. When I use any plugin for filemaker or I try Filemaker 11 the chart gets drawn with all the data points on the x axis equal distance apart even though they are not as can be seen with the dates above. I wanted to do a line chart. Anyone have any ideas of how to do this or any plugin that may help? Thanks a bunch... Arun...

I have a theoretical question. I am spinning my wheels right now at work I will use the widget metaphor to describe my process I am graphing the total number of widgets that are inventoried in several districts around the country using a bar graph. My database has several products in them, of which widgets are only a part of them. So I enter the table view, and do a find on the wigets and group them and do a count by sorting. Then go to my graph and display the results. Everythign looks nice so far. I then want to display another graph along side of them, showing how many of a certain type of widgets I have... lets just say YELLOW widgets... vs the over all…

Just as simple question really Using a regular bar graph with totals. The graph is fine, and when I hover over it it displays the value for the value for the bar. That is fine when your in front of the computer. Is there a way to turn on the value of the bar so it can be printed as well? Say there is 123 widgets.. can it print the bar with the total on top? Yes, I know there is the charts values and lines to the sides. But sometimes on a large total the values are hard to distinquish.

Hi, I am attempting to create a pie chart in a table (expenses), utilizing a field (company) from a related table (expense account), and utilizing the expense amount total field in the (expenses) table as the value. Simply plugging in the 2 fields displays every expense transaction record, rather than displaying a consolidated grouping of companies and their related expense amount totals. Also, I'm attempting to create a bar chart that utilizes the transaction date 00/00/0000 in the (expense) table and convert it to a month in the chart, whi…

Actually it works with one chart on a layout but when there are two it puts the contents on the second chart into both charts. The script is very simple Goto Chartobject1 Copy Goto global field1 Paste Goto Chartobject2 Copy Goto global field2 Paste Commit Record Works great in FMP but not at runtime. I have been using Fusioncharts for awhile to do this (see attachment). I've been playing around with FM11 demo, but I don't see a way to do this. I'm sure the fancier charts will show up in future versions (eg my stacked charts, gantt charts as someone mentioned in a previous post etc)
