I know there are a few plugins out there for Quick Books integration but could someone possibly recommend one they might have used or one that they've heard is a worth while tool. I'm hearing and have been reading a lot on Productive Computing's plugin and I seem to be leaning towards them. Anyone? Thanks. Dom

Hi folks, First time posting in a while, in fact it's been so long that I have completely forgotten my login details and have had to re-register. Hopefully I've managed to find the most appropriate sub-forum to post this in, whilst it isn't accounting related, it seems to be the best match. At the moment, I'm using a rather long in the tooth Filemaker solution to run a smallish rental company. We've found Filemaker invaluable for putting together custom invoice layouts and the like, but it's becoming clear that we are outgrowing it. The biggest deficiency is in keeping track of customer interaction. Our marketing guy has suggested we move over onto C…

Several years ago I created a FM solution for a screenprinting company which they have been using and modifying ever since. Currently they would like to integrate it with their Quickbooks, but are not having any luck getting all the information to transfer correctly. They have been demoing a plug in (not sure which one right now) and are not having good luck. They would like to speak to someone that could take a look at their system and create a solution to integrate the two. This is not something that I can do and have told them I would pass along suggestions. I believe they are using FM 8 or 8.5. If any of you could pass along some contact information, I …

Hi Does anyone have any recent experience integrating FM 10 and an accounting package, I am aware of the export import routine but I was hoping to find something that would enable me to have a live connection where the data would flow from FM to the accounts software, what is the easiest way to do this without having to learn a programming language if indeed it is possible. I would consider a plug in if necessary. Hoping someone has done this recently and can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance. Vinny.

I have in an integration issue stumbled over: http://www.beezwax.net/solutions/wsp ...Which very well might be fitting the bill for a project I'm embarked upon, however have I been dissuaded from a collegue/competitor: http://fimano.dk/ Since he is doing it differently with this: http://www.e-conomic.dk/integration/loesninger/filemaker E-conomics is the same provider I wish to have a solution integrating with. So the question I wish to get answers to is: 1) The Web services plugin from Beeswax is it critical to the quality of the WSDL a api might make use of, in other words are some breads/types of WSDL's known to be giving hiccups?…

Does anyone know if the availability of QuickBooks Online for Mac users might give those looking to integrate FMP and QB more options? http://theappleblog.com/2009/05/05/quickbooks-online-now-available-to-mac-users/ From glancing at the Intuit developer Web site it looks as though their SDK supports the online version, and the service now works with Safari (although not v.4 yet, from what I understand). I would love it if one of the QB integration plugin providers put out a version that works with QB Online from a Mac so we can get rid of our PCs.

I'm starting to dive into integration and have been looking for a users forum. So maybe this can start one....? Here's my puzzle: Insert invoicing and estimates that are associated with a job. I'm set with inserting one associated with a customer, but the way QB handles jobs (I believe its a self relation with their customers table)doesn't seem to make it possible using the plugin.... or is it? Maybe there's a trick? Anyone out there? Thanks

Is it possible to set up FM to be able to dl bank transactions into a database the same as dl them to quicken from the banks billPay option. I don't need all the stuff quicken does and would like to just use FM for my simple personal accounting needs. I'm trying to get away from entering manually into FM what is on my bank website. I have tried to dl the different formats from the bank but they seem pretty "garbaged up" when putting them in FM. Maybe a third party solution? Thanks for your time...

Anyone heard anything about BusinessAccounting X Version 2.0.0. at http://www.elsolmedia.com/software/software.html. This is the first (what appears to be) full accounting solution in FM9 I have seen for under $500. I could not find any information about the developer. The site looks to be serviced by a Hispanic media company (www.elsolmedia.com).

Although I've not studied FileMaker Pro for quite some time, I do have a file that I use frequently, named "Checkbook" that consists of numerous buttons linked to scripts. Here is my problem: I wish to create a layout whereby: 1) I can view the entire checkbook and view (and print) the total expenditures month by month. 2) I can call up a category and view the totals of that category month by month. I’m guessing that it entails a sub-summary, but I can’t make it work. Please note that my date field is formatted as mm-dd-yy. The layout can be viewed at: www.46952.com/checkbook.jpg

Hi, Is there anyone out there that can help me integrate my customers and invoices database into quickbooks. I've already created IIF files, with an export routine out of FileMaker but I'd like to "learn" XML and its capabililty, is there someone that can point me in the right direction. Has someone already done this, and would like to share some of the code would be most appreciated, as I work best learning from real examples. I've downloaded the qbXML kit, im going to be looking for a free XML editor and look on the net for examples.

Does a nyone out there have any experience/advice about Filebooks that they can pass on. I am developing a solution for a client where this type of functionality "as advertised" could be a perfect solution? How does data pass back and forth? Do fields used in an FMP solution have to match exactly with corresponding fileds in Q-books? I have already prgrammed a solution for this client and back engineering the fields would be a challenge, but not impossible. Is information pass through triggered by a script event? Are there any "traps" to avoid? This would be a new world for me, but I would enjoy taking it up a notch. Any advice would be…

Hi Guys, I know this isn't the right area to post, as its for accounts but has anyone linked Act, the CRM system back to a filemaker database? I've got a client that is interested in linking up a Filemaker client database to the clients section in Act and i'm not sure which way to tackle this, whether it would be via XML or ODBC. Whatever it is, i'd like to automate the process, so are there any plugins available or any resources? Cheers Jalz

We have a very small Web-based family business, selling artwork. The family member who handed accounting and order fulfillment is leaving the partnership, and I have to take over his role. I'm new to this, but used Filemaker many versions ago. Until now, records have been kept in QB. I know that FM can handle many accounting tasks that QB handles. My question is, do I need both programs? We do not need to handle payroll or invoices (people pay upon ordering), but need to track income and expenses for tax purposes. The volume of orders is very low, at most a couple a month. If I can manage with just FM, that would appeal to me because I'd also use it to track marketin…

Integrating with Accounting software is such a pain... why not just use a script in FileMaker to calculate the daily values that would need to be entered into one big general journal entry? I'm talking like one big honkin' entry that would include total sales for the day, total cost of sales, shipping, taxes, cash payments, credit card payments, change in accounts receivable, etc. I mean, if your FileMaker solution does all your day-to-day bookkeeping like accounts receivable and so forth, why duplicate all that effort by posting every single transaction separately into your accounting system? I know of businesses that manually input every invoice into…

For what it's worth, MYOB's Account Edge whoops Quickbooks in a mixed platform environment. MYOB's Account Edge is fully cross-platform with current versions on both. Quickbooks PC version is wayyyy ahead of their Mac version and, if you've got users on both platforms, MYOB is a great choice. It is also Applescriptable and, I believe, scriptable on the PC side via visual basic. I've got a customer with a massive 65-file (FMPro v6) sales/purchasing/CRM solution that has been running flawlessly with an integrated FMPro - MYOB integration. If you've got customer's who think there is no other good option for small to medium business, check it out.

I hope I have the right topic forum. I've run into a problem thats causing a migraine and an ever-asking boss (may be related). Charging an invoice isn't the hard part. That's simple math as far as I can tell. But it seems taking a payment on a late invoice with an interest charge gets complicated. If I take a payment that includes the interest charge the balance goes negative. I can't tell if I am looking up the interest incorrectly or if I'm looking at the wrong balance. Is there a standard practice for both cases? I'm not having much luck with the google search. Thanks

Turns out that it may be impossible (or very expensive) to convert my cousin's QB windows data to QB Mac file. However, his IIF file imported into FM fairly neatly. So now the choice is: start from scratch in QB, or use the imported data in FM. Seems that neither choice is great.

I am a quickbooks developer who has developed an export program for exporting data from QuickBooks to FileMaker using xml. (I also offer a free customer/vendor/employee exporter at my web site). I am currently developing an FM plug-in for interfacing FileMaker applications with QuickBooks and seek any input from people interested in such a plug-in. My goal is to produce a plug-in that does not require the end user to know the qbxml standards or xml programming in general. Digital Cows Technologies

Hello all: I've got a client who sends monthly data to his accountant; currently he sends paper, but he'd like his FileMaker solution (which contains all the needed data) to export something which the accountant would then be able to import into QuickBooks. Now, I don't know much of anything about QuickBooks, so I'm not sure where to start with this, and I haven't yet found out exactly what data he'll want to export, but I'll assume it is fairly simple accounting data. Can anyone give me a quick and dirty rundown of this particular exporting process? I can do the sorting, exporting, etc., it's really just the formatting I'm unsure of, or if I'll need a plug-in, …

Has anybody worked with FileMaker data transfer to Multiledger? It is scriptable, in a primitive way; but it does some really dumb things when importing invoices. It requires unit cost information, even though it contains the purchase data which allows costs to be derived. When importing into ML, you can choose which fields you import; but if you don't import cost, it doesn't leave the field blank; and it doesn't auto-populate it the way it does when you do manual data entry. Instead, it forces a zero unit cost, throwing off all subsequent reporting.

Looking for an integrated solution with: 1) fixed asset accounting (depreciation, sec. 179, rent roll) 2) mortgage amortizations 3) multiple companies, separately accounted, with a shared chart of accounts 4) creating reports from (3) as if they were 1 company (NetLedger does this) 5) entity accounting (capital accounts, retained earnings, inside & outside basis) 6) document creation/forms management (contracts, disclosures, applications, etc) My business is real estate leasing, so all the fancy inventory features are useless because I don't have goods for sale. Hi everyone, I keep an eye on the accounting section and see more questions than answers, and more frustration than fruition. So I thought I'd throw in my experience with QuickBooks, FM, and FileBooks link. Happy software produces FileBooks Link, a plug-in for FM that allows communication between FM and QB. Both Intuit (the makers of QuickBooks) and FM have put a good deal of thought into the use of xml. The 2 programs can communicate between each other in xml, and it seems to be a happy marriage. The Happy Software folks have some example files, but the examples are designed to send one transaction in real time between FM and QB. But my needs a…

Hey Everyone, You may have seen the thread on FileBooks Link and QuickBooks Pro that I started a few days ago. Thanks to some prompting and offline discussion with Charles Delfs, I've found that you can pull out all the data you need from QuickBooks Pro without having to use FileBooks Link. If your solution requires full interactivity with QuickBooks, then FileBooks Link might still be the way to go. (Though maybe not.) In my case I only need to pull data out of QB into my FM solution. I can do that without FileBooks link. This will end up saving me a $5,000 developer's liscense! What you need to use is a little-documented program that comes with the Quick…

This question has been asked... but not much in the way of answers. Surely others run into this... I am developing my class registration and customer tracking system in FMP. That includes generation of the invoices for those classes to those customers. I know that a lot of people do that, based on posts to these forums. I do NOT intend to build an expense tracking system myself... that's just typical stuff that I'd rather buy a good standard accounting package for. QuickBooks immediately comes to mind. I don't think many build that in FMP, as I don't see many posts on that. I would like to map my revenues and invoices as appropriate into the accounting…

I'm importing dollars from DOS AccPac program for General Ledger. Both debits (service postings) and credits (insurance payments) are listed as PLUS dollar amounts and their 'meaning' within the General Ledger appears to be determined by the GL AccountCode. i.e., 1202 is debit Service for Out Patient, 9300 is credit for insurance payment, etc. This is a double-entry system so the dollar figure is automatically applied to a debit and its opposite corresponding credit GL, always the same amount hence 'balanced' and, always reflected as a plus dollar amount. I've always disliked programs that rigidly pre-determine and insert a minus when attempting to enter an 'adjus…

I am looking for a low cost way to use sql/odbc to connect a customer list between the accounting program DAC easy and FMP. Please let me know of any resources (living, paper, electronic) that may be able to answer my questions. Hello, If anyone is reading this you might have seen a similar request made in regard to the Filemaker 2.1 product. Yes I am begging again in this case for Quicken 5. I loaded this entirely by accident only a few weeks ago. It looked to me a useful program which would help manage our limited finances. The allowance of ten uses was a little harsh although it was possible to sign up and get a a full and unlimited use of the product. Here I missed out.
