Does any one know of a FMP template that I could use for a bike race results. There are a series of races that include different catagories and ages. It might look like this: Name Race 1 Start Time End Time Race Time Total = 1st place = 100 series points I tried to use the Time Card as a template but could not figure it out. It would work if I could enter the date in for each day instead of having the week already in place.

I run a restaurant and i hand out suggestion cards to my customers. On these cards we ask for name address phone number date of birth. I created a simple form on filemaker to enter and record this information but i need a little help. As i hand these cards out every week there is the possibility of a return customer how can i get filemaker to check and not allow duplication of records on submission of the information? Or better still when it realises it is a return customer to record a history of visits by that customer? Any help would be greatly appreciate. Yianni

Does anyone out there have a good calender solution they would share with me? What I woiuld like to do is figure out how to incorporate a clander with a production schedule if possible. It seems like it could be done with portals, but I am not at the level to write a calender. I am good at modifying after the fact though. Ideally what I am trying to do is when an order is written a due date is automatically assigned. I just thought it would be a nice GUI if there were a calander interface, and in the individual days a portal with a scroll bar so a manager could scroll through a day and see what the CSR's had scheduled for any day in the future. My department performs reporting from roughly 100 FMP DBs that were created by a developer no longer with the department. Needless to say, I have 3-4 folks that need FMP Training. What are the best FMP CDs (Preferred 5.0 or 5.5 since that is our version) for training. I would prefer CDs that have example exercises so the new information can be applied. I've established invoicing and product files. Now I would like to create a means for managing inventory levels and a way to deduct inventory when an order ships. I've searched the forums but found nothing with "income tax" or "withholding." Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how to go about setting up federal income tax deduction calculation? I'm not an accountant, and looking over the "Employer's Supplemental Tax Guide, Pub. 15a" (from the IRS web site) it looks straighforward, but implementing it is another matter. There are 7 possible percentages based on income, each with an accompanying exclusion amount. (Of course there is also the question of filing status and pay period! But for now, let's keep it simple and assume, say, married status paid weekly.)

I am fairly new to Filemaker and looking for a suggestion of a book that explains calculations and scripts in PLAIN English. Most of the things I have seen assume you are familiar with the syntax and functions of calculations and things like that. Hallo, I'm very new to FMP 6 and am not sure where to start with an interface. What's a good layout for forms? Can I have a single form with tabs, each tab displays a separate tables data, like Orders, Products etc. If I want to add a new Order, is it best to have a new window popup, or a separate tab for entering data. Has anyone used this book/CD? Is this a self training resource or only course material?

1. I have a multi-user database. 2. Each user is limited to viewing only records created by themselves. 3. My problem is that i need each user to be able to search the whole database for a phone #, just to be able to find out if that phone # exists in the database. They don't need any other info from that record other than if that # exists in the database. 4. Currently if a user searches for a phone # that was entered by a different user, then the search returns "No Records Found", because he does not have access to records from the other user. Good morning! I just did a search in this group for an address book template but nothing came up (at least, scanning the subject lines, nothing that was an address book seemed to come up). Can someone recommend a freeware one? I don't need anything fancy, just a plain address book with ability to print. The only thing that would be special is if there were various print sizes - what I mean is that there would be at least a couple of "reports" for different address books. I'd like to print it up for one I carry in my purse (small) and for a master one here at home by the phone. Sizes are unimportant, I can change that. Thank you!

I have spent most of today looking at the new FMP 7 trial version (when I should have been doing something else). It's great, but it seems to be a bit slower than FM 6. I highly recommend Business_Tracker which can be downloaded from the FM website. Does anyone know if there are any books on FMP 7 out already?
