I just started to work with FM so sorry if this question is on a too low level. I have a Delivery note table where I specify all products my customer bought. One of the fields is called "amount". I also have a table called Inventory where I have the total number of amount of each product. I.e: A customer buys 10 pieces of candy named sweet123. I want the amount field in this example with number 10 to subtract 10 from the total amount field in the Inventory table. So if I had 100 of sweet123 after this purchase it should say 90 in the total amount field of the Inventory table. Is this totally unclear or can anybody give me a tip ?! Please =)

I am working on two separate projects right now. They are both slightly complex (but in different ways). If there is someone who could have a look at what I have done so far and give me some constructive feedback, I would be willing to pay through Paypal. You could possibly look at one project to start out with and see how things go. Or is there some secret place where Filemaker developers can log in and exchange work they do with other developers for feedback? Perhaps to join you have to submit some work to demonstrate a certain skill level?

  60. Hi, I started a project some time ago and quickly ran into tasks beyond my ability. I had posted a help wanted here, got a response and the project proceeded. The person who was working on the file jumped ship and now im left with a file that isnt quite finished (SO close tho) and our budget has been eaten up. I need two things done both to do with reporting on the data i collect in the database. I expect that someone would be able to finish this up in just a few hours if they know what they are doing. I can provide specific details as requested. To finish this project the $$ is coming from my own pocket as my boss has already given more than was originally qu…

  62. Hi: I am a videographer and photographer who has been using Filemaker for perhaps 20 years to run my business and still image database. However, I am by no means an expert or even medium-skilled programmer, Filemaker or otherwise. I have a database for my still images that I can easily publish to the web. However, I need to develop an interface for this database so that clients can register, get their own “space”, and save found sets as their own “galleries.” I am wondering if Filemaker makes a solution like this that someone like me can implement, or if this is a relatively simple thing that a consultant –anyone out there? – can implement for me. I’d like t…

Hi, I use filemaker part time and can't solve this one problem. The focus is on using checkboxes to display products in shops. The solution must work in Instant Web Publishing. If you can do it for me I can pay $100 using Paypal. There are two files attached which should explain all. First one to provide the solution gets the loot. 64. Hi, This may not be the right place for this item but I couldn't find one which seemed a better fit. I have started on a job which requires me to transfer an old FM5 application from Mac to PC and then do some modifications. I intend to convert to FM9 or 10 a little later but want to get the application up and running unchanged on the PCs before embarking on any changes. Problem is the client has lost two of his three FM5 disks, which was the only place the licence key was recorded. Does anybody out there have any FM5 disks/licences which they could sell me, please? Looking forward to your help.

  68. Hello everyone. Let me assure you that I have been searching this site for four straight days now and have NOT found what I am asking for. I work for a public utility. We have a nuclear plant, and several fossil plants. I work on the fossil side of things, supporting process systems (control room computers, PLCs, historians, etc...) New government regulations require us to monitor physical and cyber security at a level that has never been done before. We have an old Access 97 database, created years ago by my current supervisor, that tracks assets, personnel, software, etc... I have no FileMaker experience but have read all white papers, The Missing Manua…

We make a few different boards that use a similar set of parts. The parts must be bought in bulk. This means that all the parts don't need to be re-ordered at the same time. for example, we have board A and board B. Board A uses parts 1,2,3,4 and 5. Board B uses parts 3,4,5,6 and 7. each board needs different amount of different parts. how would you suggest using FM to keep track of inventory. I would like to be able to tell FM I want to make a given board and get back…

  70. Hi everyone - I want to build a FMP cross-platform solution for using a barcode scanner to create an inventory of a library full of books. I've looked at some of the non-Filemaker solutions (Delicious Library, Bookpedia, etc.) and they are pretty much exactly what I need, but I need it to be in Filemaker. So, I'd like to find something that has the basic functionality (read ISBN from barcode scanner, lookup relevant information from the web) but that I can also customize to our own needs. Anyone have any ideas for sources? Thanks much, John

For a company grossing $3 to $5 million in annual sales, what would be a reasonable budgeting expectation for a CRM solution? And what are their options? The company sells contracted services and needs to keep track of various client parameters, and to perform searches based on those fields. They wish to monitor the progress of individual sales development and the performance of their representatives. They need to be able to send and receive email with attachments, and generate orders which can then be transmitted to their accounting software. Access to data online is not a current necessity but would be a nice bonus. Their current solution is only semi-relational, h…

We've already trialed many systems but all of them fail in one respect or another.
