I'm running Mac OSX and Filemaker 7 Server. I have a LAN with 4 computers attached. I have successfully gotten a FMP7 network up and running and all works well. My question is, how can I access the database files from another location such as my work? Can I "open remote file" from my work location? If so, how does FMP7 know how to find the data base...through the IP? If you can help, that would be fantastic. Thanks, Orbiter

Has anyone figured out how to backup to an attached firewire drive (La Cie)? The filepath is valid (filemac:/LaCie d2 117 GB/Server 8 CQI Backups/) but no scheduled backup occurs. I have changed the group privileges to the La Cie to read and write for fmsadmin. (Do I need to change the ownership to fmserver?). My default folder backups are fine. I used to do this in Sever5.5v4. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I am trying to install the FileMaker Server 7 Advanced 7.0v3 update, but I am running into to some barriers. I am getting messages that there is not enough disk space. This is a windows 2k server with two disk drives and we have FM Server 7 installed on the secondary/ d drive because the main drive that runs w2k had less than 500 mb of drive space when we ran the initial installation. I know that the FM server updates call for approximately 100 MB of free space on the hard disk, but I thought it refferred to the disk where Filemaker resided-- in this case the d drive. It seems that the updater is looking at the c directory which there is now less than 100 mb of space. I…

I have a server running Server 8.0v2 Advanced where I have had the schedule running hourly backups 24/7 followed by a 15-minute offset cronned shell script to backup the hourly backups to a different server in zipped form. However, yesterday, I found that the schedule which was running fine up until 2 days ago had mysteriously switched to running only at 9:00pm and then again at 10:00pm before jumping ahead to 9:00pm the following day (as shown by the event.log)!! As a result, practically a day's worth of data was lost when I had to remotely transfer the data to a developer for overnight amendments - a lesson not to be forgotten! I was wondering if there is any …

A very unusual situation that I've come across. A client has Server 5.5 on a Windows 2003 server, hosting 32 files, and acessing the database with FM Pro 6. When the database is launched, it opens 15 of said files. The others are only open on the workstation(s) when user specifically wants to. There is one file that, when opening, always gives the error 'Communication with host has been interrupted.....'. I've seen this error before, and usually indicates a slow/improper network connection (feel free to correct me if I'm stating this wrong). Anyway, all of the other files open just fine, it's just this one file. I see through the remote administion that…

We are using iwp to connect to our server and some people fail to log out of the database they are in. With the size of our office it does not take long for 100 people to be "stuck" because they failed to log off. We have been reseting the publisher or stopping and starting the server. Does anyone else have another solution to clear out the "stuck" people? Thanks Scott

I need to get the username when a record is created or modified. The built in method of auto-entering this data won't work for me because of a couple issues. First, users forget to update the Application Preferences and we have some users accessing FMP through Terminal Services so we get duplicate usernames. Is there another method of getting an OS username into FMP when a record is created or modified?

Hello, I don't know if this is the right place to post this or not, but here goes... Specs: • FM8 Server (v2 update) on a dedicated server(W2K Server). • Users using FM8 (v2 update) on WINXP SP2. User workflow: • User creates new record with script1 on layout1. • Script opens up 3 additional layouts and each layout creates a new record. Problem: Only the user who created the record can see the new record for layout1 AND the 3 additional layouts. The remaining users can only see the new record in layout1 NOT the later layouts. Temporary Fix: We found out that if the user who created the record completely exits Filemaker, the other users…

In Dreamweaver 8 i use a dsn connection to conect to a file maker 8 database which works. However when i look at the tables they are listed as null.tablename. I can still see all the fields of each table despite the null at the front of the table names. When i try to create a recordset it gives me an error that reads: [DataDirect][ODBC SequeLink driver][ODBC Socket][DataDirect][ODBC FileMaker driver][FileMaker]Table Not Found: null. My server is running Windows 2000 SP4 with MDAC 2.6 SP2 I'm using the "DataDirect 32-Bit SequeLink 5.4" ODBC Driver Can anybody help?

We set up a Windows 2003 server, and I installed the Filemaker Server 7 v3 then the Advanced Server 7 v3. I enabled the External accounts in the FM Server and added my global groups in Define Accounts and Privileges. The global groups follow a naming convention, one is named FMDTSBUSUBRW. It is not nested in our Active Directory, when I add myself to the group I am correctly authenticated. But when I add my user to the group, and logon as her, it fails with "Your access privileges do not allow you to perform the action." I am then prompted to enter login credentials, I enter her password and I get the same error. If I enter my credentials, it works! The domain cont…

Can someone please walk me through setting up my FMS? Am working with a Mac ServerG5 with OSX 10.4 Until now I have been opening a single File on the server and sharing it remotely. There are about 5 users at any given time, so it works OK. But the FMS does not seem to be running. I cannot connect to it via FMS Admin. When I try to connect, it gives me the message that the FMS is not running and would I like to start FMS and then connect. I press yes and it thinks for a moment, then asks me again. We do this dance for hours. Can someone please help?

I have two files, main.fp7 and reader service 2.fp7. Both are hosted with FMServer 7. Whenever I go to a related rcord in one file OR open the other file, the original file closes. This screws up some import functions I'm trying to do. Does anyone have any ideas why both files won't stay open? The perplexing thing is that if I access the files using Filemaker 8, both files stay open, if I access using FM 7, they close. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Is it possible to save a copy as in FM Server 7? I am hosting a file from a FM 7 server , but cannot save a copy as remotely from a client machine. The "save a copy as..." option is grayed out in the file menu. I am trying to find some preference that wasn't set properly, but there doesn't seem to be any. If I recall correctly, I thought the "save as a copy" option was possible in FM server 5.5.

hello all, I updated an Apple PM g4 from 10.2.8 to 10,3.9 OS X version. I scheduled some tasks on my cron tab (in fact the same cron tab used on 10,2.8). This cron makes a 'rendundant' back up of the back up files saved in a Volume (a remote apple g5 machine). this is the path: /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Library/FileMaker Server/Data/Backups the terminal application autofill help me to reach this path but, when I try to move to a sub dir (we can call it xxx) with cd xxx command, the out put notify me that xxx doesn't exists! (I know this is not true). I try the same thing on a 10.2.8 eMac and the same path works properly!!! Could you help me to un…

Hello, I am a FileMaker beginner--we are a nonprofit in Boston and our FM designer is currently in San Francisco. He made modifications to our FM files over an FTP online system. He had to use a FM version 8, while we run on FM version 7. When I reinstalled the new files into our server system, the office was able to read the files...but not modify them. When the FM server is connected we get an error message that reads "FM cannot share files because another user is already sharing files using FM Pro on this computer." When the FM server is stopped, we are able to read and modify the files on the server computer--but no where else. Please help! …

SSO/Ext Auth was working perfectly until now. Our .fp7 files were moved from one SAN to another. The FMS Application is running on its own machine. FM Server8 v1 was not touched. Now when you try to open the Main Menu file, it prompts for Account Name and Password. Ext Auth works fine once you re-enter your window account name and password. Help! My users (42 of them)are used to SSO and automatic FMP access. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

I just finished creating a solution (or updating an existing solution) and after moving it to FMS Server 7 Advanced a new feature I've added to look up user has stopped working. After watching the "Companies, Contacts & Details - Optimizing your data" from ISO FileMaker Magazine I included in my solution the ability to type all or part of a users name in a Global field, then pressing tab should show only user containing what I typed. This is done with a portal and 2 calculation fields. If I have the database open local from my computer this feature works perfectly but if I open it remotely from FM7 Server (version 7.0.1) it does not work. Any guess as…

I recently came to a new place running Filemaker Server 5.5 on a Windows 2000 server. I need to make adjustments to the server configuration, but something is wrong with the server management tool: when I try to click on any of the 6 icons in the main view, nothing happens. I would like to just reinstall FM Server but they have lost the CDs. I suspect this is caused by the FM Server directory being moved from its original installation by someone else in the past. I'm not sure what I can do to fix it. Presumably I can alter some file or registry entry to make the server management tool point to the right place, but I don't know where. Has anyone else ever encount…

We are running FM Server 7 on a VPN with 2 users in remote locations using FM Pro 8 to access the files on the server. After approx 45 minutes of being connected and working in the files, FM Server appears to be diconnecting the users. This occurs whether they are adding data to the files or just browsing, so it does not appear to be an idle timeout issue. The VPN connection is still active when it occurs, so it seems to be Filemaker related. Can anyone please advise if there are any settings that we can change to stop this? Thanks

Hi, I've got the following problem on windows: I have full path to the main FileMaker executable file (e.g.: c:Program FilesFileMakerFileMaker Developer 7FileMaker Developer.exe) and need to automatically determine, if this FM was installed for all users or for actual user only. I know that installation for actual user stores data in HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry and installation for all users stores data in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry. But which keys should I be looking for? The solution I'm looking for should work for all versions of FileMaker and for runtime solutions as well. For the mentioned example of path, the registry key which should I look for is: HKEY_LO…

We currently serve out about 8 solutions, half of them relational, using FM 5.5 server on a G3 tower running Classic (9.1). Works great. I am retooling a G4 Panther server to run FM 8 server to make the transition to OS X, but still need to run 5.5 for the next few months anyway. In experimenting with some of the 8 solutions (which are working well), I noticed a significant slowdown on the 5.5 side, and I suspect it caused 5.5 server to lock up. Does anyone know if it is ill-advised to run two servers on the same network? I was under the impression that the protocols had little in common. Thanks for any ideas. Dave

Hi all, Happy New Year! Long time no visit to the forum and am pleased to see how much it has improved in it's look and useability. Has anyone had any experience in Filemaker solutions which can either work on a PDA (using Mobile) or/and a laptop which then syncronises with the Filemaker server using a remote access (VPN)? I am writing a sales order system for sales reps out on the road. Most of them will have laptops that are not connected to the Internet whilst on the road. Some will be lucky enough to have PDA's and a copy of Filemaker Mobile. The eventual destination for the data collated by the sales reps will end up on the database which i…

Hi, I recently rolled out a Filemaker Pro 8 server (running on an OS X client machine). We have 6 databases being hosted there with none having more than 3 or 4 concurrent users. The databases are shut down and backed up nightly. In the past when we were using the non-supported/non-recommended method of keeping our databases on a network volume (panther server) and running them from there, one of our programmers would make a copy of the database before she made revisions to it. Now that I’m hosting the databases properly, the programmer wants to know what she should for doing development work. She’s not comfortable with making changes and having them “stick” imm…

I'm learning networking as quickly as possible. I've been asking a lot of questions and I appreciate your patience with me. Before we purchased Server 7 Advanced, we were networked LAN (I think) or maybe peer-to-peer. On each workstation when system reboots, it requests Windows UserName and Password. So when I set up privilege sets in FM, I duplicated the identical UserName and Password. In this way, our opener would open the host file and FM would pre-fill same UserName. User then just typed their same password to access FM. It was simple for them. We are now properly served and I've been wondering how to fix this problem. It seemed low on my priority l…

My boss recently said he thought I should get a new server for my FM 8 upgrade. Being no fool, I immediately agreed, then I thought to myself "Hey, quad Xeons would be cool." But then I thought "Gee, 64 bit would be cool" And then I thought "Yikes, I'm gonna need a buttload of 15K SCSI drives, this could get expensive..." And then I thought "Wait, what about an XServe? I don't like SATA, but those suckers sure are sexy..." And so on... So, the question is, what should I do? I want raw, brutal, butt-kicking speed, but how best to achieve this? Should I get a dual processor machine at higher speed, or slightly slower machine with quad processor capability? Would …

Little background. We are currently running filemaker 5 and I went into the office to update us to filemaker 7. Installed on Clients, Installed Filemaker Server 7, Upgraded Databases. I have had filemaker server 7 running for many months without problem. I upgraded to server 8 today following the steps in exact order. No trouble with that but I have two problems. 1) I need to change the default folder that filemaker server looks in for the databases. The backup program is set to look in the old folder from filemaker 7. 2) 2 of my 3 databases work fine. The 3rd is present but "closed". Trying to open it continually fails. I checked the sharing of the file and it is on for tcp/ip but the "all user" checkbox is greyed out. Is the file corrupted? When connecting via a client this file is not listed as an option. Thanks for any advice.

We have a complex solution we have built using the seperation model with 1 Interface File and 5 Data files. The 5 Data files have many tables within them. Previously, we had all 6 files on 1 server. However, after a load test, it would perform very slowly after 50 people. The CPU on the server would max out (Server is dual G5 XServe). So, we decided to split the solution accross multiple servers. The configuration is as follows: Server 1: Interface File Server 2: Data File 1 (main) Server 3: Data File 2 Server 4: Data File 3,4,and 5 All file references were updated and double checked. After opening the Interface File, it would automatically open Data …

Hello I'm about to upgrade a non profit org from FM Server 5.5 to Server 8. I have 2 boxes I could use as the server (I am not running OS X Server). Currently it is running on and 800MHz G4 with a simple 2 Disk Raid (Via PCI Card). So that is one choice. The other option is a Dual 500MHz G4. I think I could move the RAID set up to that machine. So I guess the question is would the Dual 500MHz give a signifigant (any?) boost over the single 800MHz. Unfortunately a server upgrade is not in the cards right now. The org has less then 10 users. Also have noticed a couple of tips to user 10.3.9 vs 10.4.x is that still current recomendations? Thanks in …

Hi All, I currently have FMP5 server running on a very, very old dedicated machine. Works fine, but the time has come to let classic go for the workstations and migrate to a true server setup in OSX. I know with the old server programs in OS9, if the host machine had "file sharing" active, FMP server performance would plummet. Well, I'm very much hoping not to have to buy two new machines here in order to upgrade our fileserver to OSX server and the FMP server program. So, the question is: can I run FMP8 server on a machine with OSX server without taking a huge hit in performance for either one? Or are there still some kind of conflict issues in OSX…

Hi All: This is likely a Mac newbie question. I'm using FM Pro Server 7 running on a Mac. I've placed ten databases in the appropriate folder; FM Server sees only eight of them. I note that the ones we cannot access have my name rather than "fsadmin" as the group when I ask for "info" (Apple-I) on those files. Is that the problem? Can someone please tell me how to fix that? Somehow I was able to do that with the other eight but I cannot remember how. Thanks!

FMS 7.03 Our new server (Wilbur) arrived today. I've hit a snag and hope you will forgive any incorrect phrasing (I'm a network newbie). I wrote notes as we worked on it but, since what I was writing made little sense, it's making even less sense as I try to explain it. Network server is Windows 2000sp4. New FM server is Windows 2003 Standard Edition. On our old FM server, I accessed the box using GoToMyPC, no problem. Our Network server is DCHP? I also wrote "don't set up on dns." I can't figure out my notes but basically, if (default gateway?) is set to automatic, it finds internet fine. But if I set the IP, it can't find it. Our internet goes through o…

I have been tasked with converting about 120 FMP 6 databases to FMP 8. In the process, I am converting over from Filemaker authentication to domain authentication for most of the databases (except for full-access accounts). I understand how domain authentication works and already have it operating on a few files on our Filemaker 7 Server Advanced/Windows Server 2003. Currently, I plan on having three privilege set groups to authenticate externally: Read only, Read/Create/Edit, and Read/Create/Edit/Delete. The problem is that I do not want, for example, everyone in the Read/Create/Edit group to be able to edit data in every database, only certain ones. I know t…

I am currently building a multi-file database in FM 8 Advanced. My files all live in the same folder. I would like for most of these files to be available through the server but want to make sure addressing issues are minimized. Can I install these all of these files by just installing the folder onto the server, or does each file have to be installed one at a time? I have Server 7 on a dedicated IMAC G5. I could upgrade to Server 8 if necessary. Thanks for your patience, Jarvis

We need to have FileMaker server installed on the c drive of our server and the databases located on the d drive. We have done this many times by simply putting a short cut to the database folder in the server folder. It has worked for years. Now the problem is is doesn't seem to work with server 8 Any suggestions.

We have 8 XP Home computers. The office now wants to expand and have the "server" that's now running FM Pro 7 run FM Server 7 so they can access the information remotely (on blackberries, etc.) Can I do this on XP Home? I was thinking maybe with Apache for Windows.... If that's impossible, maybe FM Pro 7 will work with the IWP option, since they don't need more than 5 remote connections at a time. I tried doing this but it didn't seem to work -- the "server" is on an internal network; I was forwarding port 80, but it still seemed to have some trouble. Noah

I'm attempting to become familiar with our Server computer. I want to be sure it is set up correctly (removing screen savers, power-saver disconnected, enough RAM) etc. Could someone tell me if our system seems okay? We are using Server 7 Advanced (with all updaters) with (9) XP workstations: XP Professional 2002 SP2 Dell Precision PWS370 Pentium 4CPU 2.80 GHz 2.79 GHz 1.00 GB RAM No other programs are allowed to run (and only minimum even installed); firewalls & sharing are all off. We have RAID and multiple backups in place (thanks, Wim) and have a great UPS backup. Our Windows Server is 2002 (SP4 I think). There are other settings which concern me…

So FileMaker Server's main daemons, fmserverd and fmserver_helperd, are essentially all that are really needed to run a FMServer machine. So why not run it on top of a pure Darwin, not OSX machine? Anyone see where this would not work? I am just looking at a vanilla FMS which servers a couple of big dbs, nothing fancy, just want to lessen the fluff that an OS X install runs so that compute power is mainly available to FMS and transactions.

This is an easy and obvious question, or should be. I'm running FM8 Server, and need to establish remote access (internally, everything's fine). I have the IP address and port 5003 is enabled...but what else do I have to do on the server or with the file to enable access (network sharing is turned on)? (Right now, when I type in the IP and try to connect, I don't get a list of available files.)

Hi, We are hosting several DBs with FileMaker 7 Server to a local network, which is behind an IPNetRouter 1.6.8 box acting as our firewall/router. I can connect to the databases using FIleMaker 7 'client' on the local network, as well as remotely through the router's open port 5003. I can also access the machine using AFP, which I use for uploading databases to be served. My issue is I can't access the server using the FileMaker Server Admin program from outside the router. I can use it fine on the actual server, as well as from any internal machine. I have opened ports 50003 and 50006 on the router, as well as 5006 (which I don't think is necessary but was…

I got a Error code 618 "Database "core_data" is damaged and has been closed." in my server application event log. At that moment, the primary user (there are 7 total - 6 were not on at the time) got a message "FileMaker has been Forcefully Disconnected by the host" and lost connection. After restarting the services - the database was still "closed" and would not open int eh Admin Server. I restarted the server and the database is still closed. When I r-click it, and choose "open" I shows "checking..." and then returns to closed. Help, please. Brad.[color:red]

I'm trying to get external authentication working in my test environment, and I've got the files to authenticate using my OS 10.3 Server's Open Directory (Workgroup users can login to the database,) but I'm stuck on how to allow/force the users to change their password. The Change Password [] script step doesn't seem to work, and neither do the Open Directory's global policies or even the Workgroup user's Open Directory password options (to change password on next login or after n days.) The Password Service Server Log says "password change required", but it doesn't prompt the user to make the change. What am I missing here? I'm running FM Server 8 on a Mac OS…

Hi, I've just updated the FMS on our server, and now the server wont startup anymore. I've repaired the privileges and restarted the server a few times. When you start connecting with the server admin, it doesnt even ask if you want to start up the server. The FM web engine is running though, which makes this an odd problem. The server is fully updated on MacOS X Server 10.3.9. Anyone experienced a problem like this? thanks in advance! cheers, Jeffer

I'm trying to move my old Server 5 files, which I was hosting from a Mac, to a PC. Never considering that I would ever need to use a PC, I failed to follow proper PC naming conventions when I originally designed the database files several years ago. Some of the files have no extension name, some have .fp5, .fmp, .fp6, etc. I ran the files through Developer 6 trying to add the correct extension but to no avail. The relationships were broken and my opening script step failed to find the new files. Other than having to redo all the relationships, is there a workaround or is it too late to salvage these files?

I have discovered a world of messy files I did not know exist - both on FM Server 7 and my own computer (in My Computer > Manage). They are Event Viewer, Error logs and such. On my own computer, there are thousands and, already in FM Server, the list is quite long. I recall that, when installing Server, it asked how often to write events (I believe that was the wording) and I didn't mess with it because I didn't know the answer. Are these like temp files that can be deleted safely? I assume I'll want to keep the Server events for a certain period of time in case I need to track a problem but for how long? Can Scheduler (or even Server itself) be configured to…

i've recently reorganized some databases for a conversion, and the items in the nested folders are not being recognized. the files are 'not found'. sharing is on for all of these files. the file references are relative. when the files are on my local machine with the same structure, the files all work. i can not directly go to the shared files via 'open remote' and typing in the path to the file after the IP address, so the server is not sharing them but i'm not sure why. the files outside of those directories not working (named SUPPORT and DATAFILES) are being shared and can be opened. any insight would be appreciated. thanks! structure: …

7v3a and 7v4 Server Advanced. Prior to using Server, all files were in one folder. Three aux files wouldn't open when called from external sub-script in main file (even though all settings said they should), so I had added Open (Hidden) to these files in main file startup. They worked fine for a year. We just moved them all to databases directory in Server. All aux files open fine when called except one (my Date Picker file). When Date Picker is called from stand-alone (or LAN) it opens fine but when served nothing happens - no error messages, it simply won't function. I have changed nothing in this file (or my main file) which affects it. Two questions ple…

I've noticed a strange behavior recently. When I remove one of my xServe G4 drive modules (and temporarily replace it with another), the backup paths in my backup schedules indicate 'not a valid path' and my backup schedules don't run. Put the original drive module back in, paths are valid, schedules run successfully. Keep in mind, the volume I backup databases to is NOT on the drive module I'm removing. What gives? Running FileMaker Server 7.0v3 Advanced on Mac OS X Panther Server 10.3.9 on xServe G4 with 1 GB RAM. Thanx in advance.

Hi there, now I have some question related to one of the project that still in the discussion. The solution they need is: The customer is a distributor for a product. Now they wish to provide a billing and stock control system to their dealers, so that they can use the system to run their business. On the same time, the customer also want to know the stock status for their own product (dealers have selling other product) from all the dealers in real time. On the same time, all the dealers have multiple outlets that also need to link back to HQ. The attachment is the sample diagram for the solution. Distributor site have one FM Server and all the dealers HQ…

I seem to recall that I did this through file-access menu but this is not available I presume because I am hosting from the server (the option is not there at all not just greyed out). Do I have to remove the files from the server folder and open them on another machine for this option to become available to me or am I missing something ? TIA Phil

Hi. I have created a db in fmpro7 and am proposing it to my company to use. We don't have fm in our line of software products, therefore we will have to buy new software. If i bought fms8 advanced would it be able to run fmpro7 files? Is FMS8 only software I run on a seperate machine or is it actual hardware? If i do have to switch everything to FM 8, would my files be able to be viewed in FM8? Thanks

I have installed Filemaker Server 7 on a Windows XP machine. When on the machine, I am able to open remote and open the file. However, from any client machine I am unable to do this. I have made sure the databse is open, and that the user group has fmapp extended privilege on. The box do not display on open remote is not checked. I do not know if there's a conflict trying to run this on windows xp or if there's some other kind of network problem. also, i tried creating a new database and the same problem occurred. I'd appreciate anyone's suggestions.

If you have a smaller database (where small is defined as less than 5 files and 50 MB of data), would FM Server be necessary? Couldn't I just put the files on a shared folder and the 4 users who use it just run off that? What are some advantages and disadvantages? The reason I ask is because I am proposing FM to my company and I don't know if I should include FM server in it. Also, if anyone happens to know, I am looking for a live connection (real-time) to a SQL database. Can this be done? Pretty much every record that goes into FM also inserts into the SQL database. Vice Versa too. Every record that is inserted into the sql database through a differ…

I've been developing in FMP and FMP Server, for 2 years now. I recently acquired FMP Server 8, and for the first time I'm facing a problem that is totally mind boggling. The solution seems to be working flawlessly, when using FileMaker Network sharing. Once the file is loaded in FMP Server 8, some globals do not hold their value. Most of them, no problem. Other totally lose their value. I had never encountered this problem with FMP Server 7.

I've been using Filemaker 6 for a while, and am looking to implement FM 8 at a non-profit that I'm working with. My trial version just expired, so I thought I would ask this while I waited for the org to get around to purchasing. That said, I'm designing the website for the org, and would like to retrieve information from the database for live reporting of statistics, or whatever, as well as potentially feed info into the form. Would I use IWP to accomplish this? If so, how do SQL statements from a page tie into it. If not, any suggestions. This is my first venture into using a database online. Thanks in advance. Greg C.

I've been running Server 7 for about 10 months without any problems. Upgraded to 8 this weekend and had my first crash 4 hours into the work day. Went back to last backed up file but unable to import records from the files that crashed, import states x records added/updated, x records skipped due to errors and no records are imported. Is this just a coincidence or could 8 have some issues? Server 8 opened the files fine upon install this weekend, both files made it through the first opening/verification of records. Ran fine over the weekend, backing up every hour, but no users around this weekend. The log did not indicate anything wrong, last note in the …

I am hopeful that someone has an answer to this. I have a solution that is hosted by a provider over a WAN. I have multiple clients logging into this system on Mac's and PC's from multiple locations across the US. This solution has an image module that stores images as a reference. We did this by creating a mounted volume on the hosting server. All clients connect to the mounted volume using FTP. An image administrator is responsible to add images to the image module. Here is the issue: If you connect to the solution and mount the remote volume via FTP on a Mac and insert via a reference, the PC cannot display the image. The PC sees tha a record has been created. but…
