Hello Forum I am just a novice but have completed my database and need to be able to load this on-line so that my other office will be able to add and delete data from my newly created database. Can someone give me a few pointers as I am new to this and would greatly appreciate someone trying to help me. I have looked at the help file and tried a few times but keep getting lost. Ok..prolly really silly. But I installed FMSA8 and IWP..and was able to play with the sample database..but where do put my real database?

I am testing with the example provided in the fx.php download. Test scenario works ok. Next I change to mydb, mylayout, username, password, and fields. Nothing displays in the web page. I see alternating color rows that match the number of results but no data. When I set debug to 'true' and click on the FM link the data shows up. It must be something simple I am missing. Problem: I'm trying to share a FM database outside my LAN, however it "cannot find server". I know it is a problem with my router setup and I need to open up either port 80, or 591 in my router, however I don't know how to do this. I tried configuring the NAT settings in my router to to open port 591 using TCP or UDP/TCP, but neither worked. I browsed to both the WAN static ip address of the router, and the computer's ip address but both don't work. I'm new to router configuration so I have no idea if this is how I do it or not. Any help?

Hello there, Two part question: 1. I have passwords enabled for some of my databases - but when you go the the built-in home page, it just grants you access to the databases without asking you for the password. Scariness! How do I fix this? And, 2. I want to enable passwords so that clients who have FileMaker Pro can open the file via the File - Open - Host pattern but can only get to their own database. I don't have any trouble with files that I create new with a password before I add data to them. But if I add data to the file, and then add the password, it prompts all the web users out there who search the database for a password. This makes them very unhappy…

I'm trying to get a value list to display vertical on IWP for each of the value. It works fine on FMP Client, then when rendered on the web the values are all there, however, the are all bunched and wrapped. Any ideas on getting them to diplay vertically like: value 1 value 2 value 3 Not value 1 value 2, value 3 Thanks!

Hi, I have 3 db files that I have successfully linked together in FMP using the Open File script. Now that I have published my files, I have to find another solution to linking them up since the ‘Open File’ script does not work in iwp. I have tried a few things like: linking to the url, and ‘go to related record’. In my FMP 8A files (raw), I end my ‘Open File’ script with ‘Close Window’ so that when it finds the targeted db it will close the previous one. I would like to know how to close the window and auto log off the user. Lastly, the FMP files looses some of it’s layout style I intended it to have when they got published. I would like to use a …

I am trying to simply test IWP in FMP8 (trial). Using the template file Event Management.fp7, per the guide, I have: 1) Set IWP to On 2) In Advanced settings changed port to "591" 3) Allowed "All Users" and not disabled IWP home page Database is placed in the FileMaker 8 Web folder and is open When I try to access in my browser http://...:591/ the browser defaults to ..//fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html, "No databases available." is displayed. I'm working on a system where customers via iwp can fill out a form and then upload files by bushing a button. the files sizes can be up to 500 mb, does anyone have any ideas or exambles how to upload files in iwp, i don't want the files to upload in the database, but in shared folder on the computer, in the database should only show a reference of the files

The FM view in a browser looks very similar to the layout in FM. But thats about it. I have some problems where the stylesheets is not allowing some of the layout links to work. The links are there but they are shiftet to the left of the text. When I look at the html (or cgi script?) I can see that it is creating lots of redundant div and span tags. Currently the tag for the link is ending before the Text which is my link? How come? Does anybody know a way to clean this up or fix? Is there any settings or script you can manipulate and fix your layout in a browser with? Perhaps if you could attach a simple css file it would really clean up lots of the tag…

My Website, www.transpowercorp.com, is completely written in FileMaker and hosted by means of Instant Web Publishing. IWP works, but shrinks the site considerably. Internet Explorer 6 and 5 and AOL display the site fine, but without zooming capability, and therefore the site seems small. Internet Explorer 7 does have zooming capability, but FireFox does not. Opera does have zooming and renders the site very nicely--except that the scroll bars are displayed inappropriately thereby hampering data entry. Also, Opera displays superscripts as subscripts (but this is minor). I doubt if anything can be done about these issues with Opera, so I'm sticking with Crazy Browser an…

Hi, when I open a file through the web browser, using IWP, I'm immediately presented with a 'record not found' dialogue box, and in the status area the record number is given as zero. Any ideas?

Hi gang, When using a web browser to interact with my database, clicking certain buttons (for example, to select a particular item in a portal and display its full content in fields that I have placed on the form), the browser goes into "Submit" mode, waiting for the user to click on the Submit button on the left side of the web page. The functionality is not affected, and the user can continue to interact with the database, however, it appears that Filemaker is giving the user the chance to edit some of the fields and submit their changes. I would like to be able to use a script equivalent of clicking the submit button. Is there such a script step? Cheers!

Hi All Have just set up iwp on fm server 8 advanced.. All was working fine then at some point .. when accessing database thru a explorer browser about 4 hours into running, we received an [unknown error 13]. We had to restart services and all appears to be fine now. Anyone know what an error 13 is..? Thanks Stu

When I’m entering info into a form field, if I put an apostrophe and then submit changes, it throws in a with the ' It saves the ' in the filemaker field also. This is a problem because the info is printed out in a report. Is there a way to resolve this easily?

No answer to my previous PayPal question, but I think I got it right, anyway. Now for another: I've enabled the Guest account and gave it data entry permissions. I've set File Options to automatically login as Guest, go to the Home layout, and perform the Start-up script. I expected when I typed in the URL that the database would automatically log-in as Guest and go to the Home layout. No. IWP insists on asking for the login regardless. Why?:?? How can this be rectified? This database is meant to be a public Web site--I don't want to have a Web surfer have to login!!!

FMS8 Advanced on Windows 2003 Server Just upgraded. Can remote access files from client, but not IWP. Successful login shows available files, but when I select one I get Explorer error "Database not available." Another issue, don't think this is related because I used to get it in FMS7 Advanced and just ignored it because everything else was working fine. The console consistently shows "Console and Web Servers Require Restart." If I select I get "An unexpected error has occurred." Has anyone seen and resolved similar issues? TIA John

Code: $query->AddDBParam('customer',"cust7","eq"); $query->AddDBParam('status',"closed","neq"); this search should give me all the items for customer - cust7 whose item status is not closed(ie, open). this in filemaker terms would be doing two find request. one for customer = cust7 and another for status = closed ( with the omit tick box checked) so it would give me a result set of 3 which is correct. the fx.php search however gives me 57, obviously incorrect. i even tried with the 'lop' set to 'and' without any joy. if anyone has figured it out, give us a hint. cheers

I publish several databases using IWP (FM Unlimited 6.0) and in one of them I keep getting an error 102 when attempting to save a new record over the web. I created the new database by coping a previous one and modifying it slightly. This is something I do all the time. I am not missing any fields in my form--I've double checked twice! Any suggestions? I posted the following message to another part of this forum by accident, but here goes: I recently upgraded FileMaker Server from version 7 to version 8 on a Apple XServe. However, I cannot be able to restart or commit changes with the IWP (which I am doing through the Administration Console). Whenever I do so, I am getting an "error encountered" message. From that point on, I am unable to use the web engine in any form. Is there a way to resolve this?

Are there any FMSA 8 plug-ins or produxts that allow automatic emailing from IWP? It seems that SMTPit does not work with Server Advanced. Outside of a plug-in, what is the best way to send emails using strictly IWP?

I am trying to integrate FileMaker 7/8 with flash.. but am unable to progress... What exactly i am trying is use FM7/8 as backend to a flash made web page.. the web page should be able to add data to the FM DB as well as update the same.. something run time. Can someone explain how an IWP button/ script could generate an smtp email via php, etc? Do you use openurl script step and pass params? If so, does this require a pop-up window? Is it professional? Secure? Can it be done behind the scenes without the user knowing? I want a button from IWP to generate an email back to the creator of the record's email (to authenticate email address). Within the body of the email that was generated would be a link to FMP that would set a status field="active" and perhaps perform another script, thereby authenticating the user. I have created a form with calculated fields on it, when a new record is created via IWP the default result is placed into the field - That parts OK. Im having a problem accessing my database that I've shared on the web. I can access it from my browser by entering the IP address from my computer or the WAN IP address that is given to me by my ISP, however when I try to access theis shared database from outside my network it wont connect. Ive set up my router to port forward the ip address of my computer (i.e. 192.168.1.2 to the WAN IP given to me by my ISP, however even though when I type in my WAN IP and I can access the DB from my computer, no one outside my network can access it. I set it to connect on Port 80 using TCP. Any suggestions?

I want to build a form for users to submit a query, then get a display of records that match the query. Read only, so it seems like a really simple chore. I have an html form that collects the one piece of information I want to search, and a form action page that returns the results in tabular format. Dear All, I need to create choice with radio button. The fields are RB_Choice and Description. RB_Choice is RadioButton with value(one, two, three, four), when I clik the RadioButton then the Description will contain text. for example, when I click "one" then Description will contain "Helmet". My problem is that I run OSX Server 10.4.4 with 3 web domains setup only so that users can check their email via webmail. There currently is no default web site configured. I'm being told by FileMaker that they don't support web publishing on server if the web config has been changed at all. I personally find this completely ridiculous, but whatever. One of the techs said it is possible but they don't support it and that I might be able to find the answer on this forum. I'm publishing a simple table, with about 10 fields, using FM Server 7 and IWP. Filemaker seems to limit the total number of lines displayed to 25. IF there are more than 25 lines, it shows a little page-flipper icon to move forth and back. I don't want this. I want to display all the lines in the found set. Does anyone know how to disable this? thx!

I want to have a "exit" button which opens a URL and then does the Exit Application script (so that the session is ended). OpenURL works. Exit Application works. But if I have them both in the same script, they fail. Anyone got this working? FMSA 8v2 under OSX 10.4.4 / Safari, popup blocker off.

I'm using IWP to publish info on the web. One of the columns refers to a related field from a master dBase. The problem is that if the info is missing, then it shifts all the data upwards. For example: Say that there is a Supplier associated with a Number on every line. Some suppliers have numbers, some don't. If I have 8 Suppliers, of which only every one has a number assigned to it, then the published website reveals all 8 Suppliers with 4 numbers pushed all the way to the top so that it "appears" that the top 4 Suppliers have numbers associated with it, but in reality, only the first, third, fifth, and seventh supplier has a number. I have FM8 IWP working fine, since filemaker has port 80 of my server I have put my web site into the folder FileMaker Pro 8 AdvancedWeb and renamed my index page iwp_home.html The web site serves fine, what I am trying to do is link to the filemaker IWP page from within my site so people can view any databases that I have opened. I've build a web site using FileMaker as the back end and FX.php as the class to access the FileMaker data. I've got it working but it's insecure. For instance, there's a link for editing a record that looks like this: Edit This results in a URL that includes the entry ID, which means that anyone can simply enter the URL and be able to edit that entry. I have a layout that displays results in a portal from a value list. The value list field is a global that is related to another table...that's how I'm displaying the results in the portal. I've noticed that the browser is incredibly slow to update the related fields in the portal after a user selects a value in the global. My cpu usage on the server (Xserve, second gen, 768MB RAM) shoots way up and it appears to be the fmweb process doing it. I'm using Server Advanced 8.02. Anyone have ideas' about what's going on? I've tried optimizing everything I can on the server and database side.

I am having a MANY problems with Instant web publishing. It will not longer let me enter data in a lot of records because it says the record does not exist. The Instant web publishing records do not correlate with the actual filemaker database files. They each show that their are 99 records but with Instant web publishing Asset #48 is record 14 and in the filemaker file it is 12. How can I fix this?

Hello all: I'm in the process of possibly converting a FM6 database over to FM8. The FM6 database is web enabled (with the old CMDL code) and I would like to possibly create the web pages in filemaker and use IWP for the short term just to get the application functional and then convert those web pages to PHP/FX.PHP plugin as we go along. Can someone give me their insights into IWP for FM8--any pitfalls I might run into going this route. Would it be better to just spend the time upfront and go right to PHP/FX.PHP? Thoughts? I have a solution that was working with FM6 Runtime talking to FM 6 as the backend while using the Troi URL plugin and FX/PHP. Have updated the FX/PHP to talk to FMSA 7/8 and FM6 works fine with the updated code, but, the FM6 Runtime now will not work properly. Anyone have a similar problem as this? Usually, if it did not work, it would not work with both FM6 and the runtime. In this case, FM6 works fine and the runtime does not. I updated the Troi URL Plugin to 1.3 but no improvment.

I am having a problem calling a script from php fx. I am following the docs to the letter - at least I think so. I am running FM6 Pro on WinXP. I have a Database that has a lot of .tif images. I want to put them on a IWP for clients to view. Were talking about 100’s of images, and growing per/client. Currently I have them in a file outside of FM due to the way it stores image files. Within the FM I have a unique reference for each record the relate to the correct image. I want to, with only a click of a button from the client in IWP either open the image in a container field, or in a separate window in an external application. If you make a field definitions change in FM, on a table that is being shared via IWP, you get a message about having to wait until the active IWP sessions are closed. If you choose to Send a Message to those IWP users, it says that iwp user sessions will be kicked off when you click "Send". However, when I tried, it failed. None of the 4 active IWP sessions were kicked off, and I thus was unable to save the field changes. Under FM7, you didn't even get the message about "iwp users will be kicked off", so that's a slight improvement. However, it looks like the new feature in FM8 is not working.

Hello Folks, I have a db published on the web using FMP7SA and FMP8 Server. Everything works fine except when adding a record, the submit script returns the user to a portal revealing their submissions. For some reason the portal does not show the most recent addition. If i add another record, then the previous unshown submission is now revealed. The desktop version of FMP8 shows the record being added and on the users revealed list real time no problem. If I log out of IE and log right back in, the users reveal list shows all records correctly. Has anyone else had this problem? Cheers.

Hi, I am using IWP. I got a problem that when I go back to the original page after an error (for example after a missing field error) suddenly all the fields get deleted and I would need to type in all the fields again. How can I prevent this? Thanks!

I am building a solution that emails a password protected pdf file (cool new feature of FM 8) to landlords. The pdf file contains prospective tenant contact information that landlords can purchase. I'd like to enable the landlord to be able to purchase a code to open the pdf file by clicking a buy now paypal button embedded in the email containing the pdf. If after clicking the button in the email, paying and successfully completing the transaction, then they would go to a success page that would give the code to unlock the pdf file in the email. The one problem I have is the authentification dialog displays when trying to load the CWP page using the Open URL script. Is there a way to prevent the authentification dialog to display? To make things clear; I have a script that uses the Open URL command. I basically load the CWP using this script. When I do this I get the login (username/password) dialog. I don't want that because the user already logged into the database through IWP. Thanks!

1. What logs are there for IWP and CWP access? I know the httpd access log gives me some info, but are their logs specific to IWP and/or CWP access? 2. In my list of IWP databases, there is one that isn't IWP enabled. It use to be, but no longer. Why does it still show up in the IWP database home page? Thanx in advance, Eric

Hi There I am trying to capture a client's IP address when creating a record. I have tried the following code (and a number of other variations). $ip=getenv('REMOTE_ADDR'); $ip=$_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR']; $ip = $_ENV['REMOTE_ADDR']; the 'getenv' code appears to sort of work, but returns the IP address of the FileMaker server and not the client. I'm working on a FM-driven website (ver 5-6) that is 99% finished. It contains at least a half-dozen cdml scripts. They were all working when I had the site on my Mac server for testing. Now that we've moved it to the client's ISP, none of the scripts are working. I imagine there's a difference in the way FileMaker is configured on the two servers, but I can't put my finger on what it could be. I'm past deadline now. Please help!

If you hide the status bar, how do you script the logout process. I don't see any way to do this other than to just have the session time-out after 5 minutes.

I have just moved my FX.php solution from FMS Advanced 7 to FMS Advanced 8. Since then, one of my search results page displays the following error; Warning: Cannot use a scalar value as an array in /Library/WebServer/Documents/Precedents/prec_list.php on line 16 The strange thing is, that with some data I get the error and other data I don't. Has anyone experienced the problem of IWP sessions suddenly no longer terminating properly? What happens is that, seemingly out of the blue, the number of active IWP sessions in our IWP databases continues to grow until the maximum number of concurrent sessions is reached. During this time, IWP clients are connecting to databases and then quitting the databases as usual. There is no indication that anything is wrong until you monitor the number of current sessions in the FSA Web Publishing Administration Console (or if you monitor the number of concurrent users in your database(s)) and see that the number only increases--it never decreases to reflect a terminated s…

Hi gang, I have a database that I am developing and testing with IWP. For some reason, now when I log into the database using Safari, I no longer get to view the web pages for the database. When I look in Activity Viewer my CPU usage has shot up to 100% with FM Web Publisher and Filemaker Pro using up the bulk of the resources. I can't get to the point where I see the logout button in the browser window, and I can't quit Filemaker, as it states that someone is logged in. It gives me the option to "Ask" them to quit, but clicking "Ask" does not achieve anything. I need to resuscitate this database ... Any suggestions? Cheers!

I have been doing some research on hiding the sidebar for my database on the web. I have 17 layouts that can be viewed from the web, but I have buttons to go between the records and the layouts. I have tried running a startup script to hide the sidebar but that doesn't seem to work. Is it even possible to hide the sidebar on the web, with a dynamic webpage?

Hello, I'm having a problem with lookup fields not working when I publish a dbase to the web. I have three fields ('division', 'program' name and 'siast client') in an image dbase that gets their respective value lists from two other reference dbases. These are set up as lookup fields. Everything works fine when accessing the image dbase directly but when I publish it to the web and try to perform a find, the value lists in the three fields are blank. It seems strange, but I have one filemaker script in our solution that I cannot get to trigger from PHP. The script seems to work fine in the CDML solution, and when I run it on the filemaker databases, it works fine. Any quick thoughts... .. and this time I double checked the security databases which allow for running scripts.

Hi all Usually when a user login, system will bring user to last system record. How to actually bring user to his/her last record instead of system last record. I worked on it but only manage to come up with this.. Go to record[First] Loop If[RecordOwner = Get(AccountName)] Omit Record End If Go to Record[Next] Exit Loop If[Get(RecordNumber)=?] End Loop Show Omitted Only In '?', lets say if i were to put 25, it will only loop through the first 25 records. I would like to allow IWP users to change their password. I've created a layout with fields named "old password" and "new password" and I then use the "Change password" script step to make the change. (This does not need to be highly secure) There doesn't seem to be a way to display the password character (a little dot) instead of what they are actually typing onto a web page. Any ideas? :(

i wana to insert a file in to my container field in iwp mode how can i do that?

With IWP, while in edit mode and the status area is hidden and locked, is there an equivelent script to the submit and cancel that is in the side bar? I have a button that is called 'Submit' that is scripted to Commit Record. This is fine but how about canceling an edit?

I'd like to suppress the "status area" in my IWP solution and add scripts and buttons for specific functionality. Is there a way to prevent the users from being able to activate the status area when they click on the little triangle in the upper left corner of the browser window?

Hi there.. I have a simple PHP page that adds a record to a fp7database. I am only populating two fields, one number field and one text field. I have found that the text field causes the process of the 'New' request to slow down. If I changed the field type from Text to Number, it takes less that a second as opposed to about 3 seconds as text. Is there some way to fix this or does it just take longer to process text? Halski

I'm using Filemaker Server 8 Advanced on OS X 10.4.3. I can reach all my databases through the web at http://databases.mycompany.com/fmi/iwp. I would like to reach the databases using the simpler address http://databases.mycompany.com. I noticed that FileMaker has created /Library/FileMaker Server/Web Publishing/IWP/, but it is empty. What file should Apache redirect to in order to use FileMaker IWP? I would guess iwp_home.html, but I don't think that file actually exists; it seems to be generated dynamically by the web publishing engine (or at least I can't find it). Any ideas?

I currently have a very archaic setup with a webhost that offers me Linux webhosting and PHPMyAdmin access. Part of the web site I'm developing allows users to upload images. I've got this working so that the images are uploaded and moved to a known directory on within the web server's directory (uploads). I've been trying to figure out how to get this uploaded file into a container field in FileMaker 7. Using AddDBParam with the URL of the file isn't working. I've been able to correctly configure a database to be shared over my LAN by assigning my database to port 591 and I can share this with anyone within my own LAN. I am sharing my solution from a workstation (WIN XP) IP 192.168.5.119:591. The problem is sharing the file outside my LAN over a WAN. I set my firewall (Sonicwall TZ170) to forward requests to my public IP address (i.e. 68.1.1.120) but I get no response. I set up the rule in my firewall for TCP6 on port 591,(using a browser I type in Http://68.1.1.120:591, but I get nothing. I know I must be missing something here as I have little experience in IWP. Can anyone suggest what it is I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions…

Hello Together, I have one field in my database that contains a pull down menue with dates to select. When I open the database on the web this pull down field is so small that nobody can read anything. The field has no different specs than the other pull downs I have in my db. I have two db published via IWP (FMSA7, IIS on Win2000 TS). One works fine, just the usual web quirks. The other one gives intermittent login problems. Some days users get "Error 13" (file or object is in use). If I restart the Server, the problem is fixed- temporarily. I shouldn't have to restart FMSA several times a week, though. While one db gives a login error, the other does not so I know it isn't Server or WPE. Anyone else have this weirdness? Any ideas on it?
