My script works on Mac OS X and Win98, but not Win2000. (OS 9 not yet tested.) First I use TrFile-CreateFolder, then I use TrFile-FileSpec To FullPath and end up with a path like this: "C:WINDOWSDesktopIssue 25 Export" and the folder is created on the desktop. This works on Win98 and on 2000, the file path is different, but that's to be expected, and the folder gets created as expected. Well, better late then never, I'm finally jumping into C/C++ and, whilst learning all about pointers, voids and the like it occured to me "hey! I could probably use this to write FM plugins!" I have purchased a site wide license for Troi grabber to work on Filemaker Pro V5 and Filemaker Server V5 for a PC Network that uses Windows 2000. I purchased a site wide license as I want to have 5 or more cameras taking students photographs at once. I have set everything up as I was told but when I am running 4 or more cameras at once it seems to crash Filemaker after every two to three photographs. Have I done something wrong?? Please help!!! Is there a way to send information from many records in one email using SMTP? I thought about a global repeating field or something like that. Is there a way to script a process that copies information into a global repeating, then adds another record's information into another global, groups them together back into one global repeating, and so on...I want to be able to send a list through email but don't want to send separate emails for each record. I'm using Dacons Mail.It 2 plug in - I'm finding some html emails are coming thru as text but the full html version is not available to view in a separate browser. Or more curiously, some html emails come thru with nothing in the body at all. (I've checked these emails via web based mail and its all there - but download it to Mail.It and its blank.) I'm using FM Pro 5.0, perhaps the html support not as good in this earlier version?

I have a general question about plugins. I am about to install the new file plugin from troi, but I can see a list of plugins being used into the future. I am sure that the activator plugin would be useful. a pop up calender would be more than useful once we go live on the next module of my system. The dialog plugin will help for many day to day functions. Finally I can see me using the an SQL plugin in the next year. Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone would know of a plugin or script that can backup all the data in a filemaker database and then be able to restore it if they need to. Right now in my solution i have to tell the customers to export to excel and then import from excel and then line up all the fields so they match and then import. After I have all the header file, and C++ files, and resource files and all that ready, how do I put it all into a single .FMX file so that I can load it into filemaker as a plug-in? We recently purchased this calendar plug in. We are not FileMaker newbies but not developers and have no prior experience with plugins other than FileMaker Mobile. The PDF manual which accompanied the purchase of this plugin does not address our basic questions. How do we get the calendar to pop up for the user on a layout? What new fields do we have to add to our existing database to make the plug in work? We have a database of appointments. I am on a Mac system and I am interested in building solutions which could communicate with "pole displays", serial mag stripe readers, and hopefully even merchant terminals. I am using the Troi File Plug in. I want my users to make a copy of a file and save it to a default folder. I note that both the GetFileSpecDialog and the SelectFolderDialog allow for a default (or initial) folder to be displayed in the dialog box. How can I get the SaveFileSpec to start from a default initial folder? Is there a way of using the SelectFolderDialog in conjunction with the SaveFileSpec to achieve this? Hope this isn

hello i have a problem with the plug in "Dialog Magic 5.5.0" and "dacon launch it". for some odd reason i cant enable it. i keep getting the message "Dialog message 5.5.0 could not be enabled" and "dacon launch it could not be enabled" I have this on 2 PC's and . can anyone tell me if this is possible: I want to have a dialog popup with two popup lists. Departments (list 1) and Operations (list 2). After choosing a Department, I want a set of operations specific to that department. I can do this in FM now but not in a popup dialog as desired. This is an effort to streamline some user data entry. Right now I am wondering if I will have to use two dialogs.

I've downloaded events plugin and I've tried to use it but the External script daily event example doesnt work. I've created the global field and built up a daily script event but nothing happens. Only if I perform the script the global field is filled in with the word "success". As I understood the script should be activated by the plugin. Does anyone know what is going on ?

Hello. I am attempting to trigger an event when a new record is added to my database from our web interface. I am using the Oazium Events Plugin which in turn is supposed to run a script that calls the Troi Coding plugin to encrypt a field. I can get the event to trigger when I am working directly with the Filemaker Client, but not when the submission comes from the Web Companion. I am relatively new to working with Plugins. Is there something I am missing here?

I have purchased Troi Grabber to allow my database to take pictures. I am using a web camera and the pictures are being entered into a file with two main fields ID (text field) and Photograph(Container Field). After I have taken a few pictures everything seems to go belly up and the system crashes. Has anyone else had a similar problem??

Hello Everyone! I designed my runtime solution to allow the user to backup the user's data file upon quitting/closing the program. At initial run, I use the Troi File plugin to create a backup folder within the runtime app's folder (which the installer installs in the Applications folder for both Mac and WinTel machines). Upon closing the data file, the Troi File plugin then uses the data file's path and the backup folder path (which are both stored properly--I've checked this many times) to copy the original file to the backup folder. In Filemaker you have to hard code opening of databases and or launching remote scripts. That is fine for most solutions. But I need to be able to dynamically launch a database based on a field or string of text instead of hard coding this. is there a plugin that will allow me to access a hosted database and tell it to open? I don't know whether there is a product like this already - but if someone can make a plugin that accept and excecutes codes.. can solve a lot of problems! Think about it... People will not need to write plugin codes in code warrior or visual studio - rather in FMP! I don't think it would be that much of a hard job. specially if there was a third party compiler already available in the system - then it's just matter of passing the code to that compiler and capturing the output... Hence codes can be developped in C, C++ , Java or any other language.... Is there any such thing like that already?

The Developer Edition of Filemaker only came with 1 plug-in sample? 2. I have written a simple plug-in. I would like to return a date back to Filemaker. Currently I'm returning a string. DICOM Worklist is a standard for data exchange used in the medical industry. I am just starting to research it but it appears to be a standard format for different databases and other medical systems to negotiate a connection and share data and images over a TCP/IP connection. At this point it's looking like a plug-in would best handle this connection and exchange, allowing FileMaker to process the data internally. With Troi File I can copy one .JPG file (always the same file) from one folder (always the same folder) into another folder (always the same too) and then change the name of the new file based on one field content. Troi File show me a dialog to select the file to copy and the destination folder. How can I avoid this dialogs to make the process without user intervention? Thanks

I ask because the SMTPit support people told me there isn't any way to send that article in the body of my email, even though I have saved that web page as an html file. I am having mucho problems trying to write a plug-in using Apple's Project Builder. I think the FMFlags.h is wrong: it directs Project Builder to compile a CPU_X86 version, which is not exactly the thing I want. I am targetting Mac OS X. I made a Runtime Solution with FileMaker Pro 5.5 Developer under W98. In this application I use the FileToolbox Plugin. It is functioning OK even the Runtime on this machine. When I copy the files to another W98 PC the plugin is deactivated. When I try to activate the Plugin in the Preferences menu it says, "File Toolbox" could not be enabled. The Plugin shows up in the preferences. I did trie this runtime on two different W98 PC's, both the same problem. Anyone knows ? Bert

I have an application that has 80+ databases. We will need to make some changes in the way we handle passwords. Currently we use groups and allow anyone in the group to have the same rights. We need to narrow this down by using individual passwords for about 300 +/- users. The problems are originally setting up that many passwords in 80 files and the fact that these users change on a somewhat frequent basis. I would like to hear from anyone that has used DialogMagic to change passwords over a number of databases. All replys will be appreciated. I'm constructing a database (FM 5.5 Developer, OSX) for doing guest registration for a small (10 cottages) resort. One of the results I am looking for is to find a set of reservations (specified start/stop date), sort the results, and display the results in a calendar. The final result would be a printable calendar with each reservation appearing as a horizontal bar (with guest's name) not unlike a Gantt bar graph. The idea is to have a visual record of a given span of time (a month view) with each reservation shown as a continuing block across the days they are associated. Hellos, I would like to use a value list in one of the dialog's function(TRDI-DoListDialog) I've got that right except that my value list uses related records from onother file and so i cant really format them i.e put "|", unfortunately that results in my dialogue box not containing any values in the list. Hi, all. I'm running CodeWarrior 6 on XP. I've modified the example plug-in and it works fine on Windows. I change the target to PPC and make file file and it isn't recognized on Mac. The filesize is only 10% of the Windows version, also, so that makes me think it's not linking with everything it should. I changed the post linker option to MacBinarize and that didn't fix it. Hi all, check this scenario, we've purchased this plug in that allows for 5 users as the maximum number, we are currently 3 using the plug in, i travel a lot and i dont carry any computer with me but i normally work where i go, using any machine with filemaker. Hi, I am a little bit confused. I developed a couple of plug-ins for a quotation system for a print shop with FM Dev's Edition 4, which specifically states that does not support powerpc only plug-ins (only 68K & PowerPC). By the other hand, as my customer is upgranding his Mac's to system X, I start to read how to "carbonize" my plugs, but it says that the code should not have any reference to any 68K code and should be powerpc only. Do I necessarily need to upgrade to FM Dev's 5.5?? or is there any other way to do it? Thanks

Does anyone know of a plug-in that will allow users filling out a timesheet to pick dates from a calendar? Ideally, there would be a "Week ended" field in which you could type out the date, or you could click on a button beside the field which would bring up a small calendar for the month and you could click on a date. I've been making plug-ins with CodeWarrior Pro 3 for a while and just "upgraded" to version 7, only to discover that it won't compile the plug-in projects from FileMaker Pro Developer version 4.0. Simply commenting out the 3 lines that the compiler objected to resulted, not too surprisingly, in a plug-in that gets ignored by FileMaker. The lines in question are: #include <A4Stuff.h> EnterCodeResource(); and ExitCodeResource(); Anybody know how to make this work? For now, I've got 2 version of CodeWarrior installed.

Does anyone know of a way to have the local and remote access companion settings in individual files turned on all of the time? Some of my databases have them on all the time and others reset to being off when I close them. If they all reset to off, I could accept that I can't do it, but since some of them are on, I come to the conclusion that there must be a way to keep them on. It would make some of the external applications that I use to process FMP data much easier to deal with.

Need to make the Enter key act like a tab key for a client who demands that he be able to use the enter key to move from field to field on the layout. Unfortunately, I have been unable to contact the developer of TabbyKeys ( www.e4marketing.com ) to buy it from them. Does anyone either have it or know where I can get a copy. I would like to keep a listing of all my scripts on my Palm. On a regular computer file I would import all wanted scripts into the scripts area. The Palm is going to require a text field to hold those scripts. I know there are programs that allow you to write your script in a text document and insert it into the script.I need to do the opposite, I need a way to copy scripts into a text field.

Hello, I'm having trouble with ver. 2.2 on a G4 running 9.2 and FM 5.5. I am using the Troi plug-in to import yellow page ads (eps now, would prefer pdf). I want to reference the original because a) there will be thousands of ads and : the ad copy may change and I don't want to have to reimport the ad. The auto import works great. Poor me is confoosed. When supplied with a gBeginDate and a gEndDate, my calc field using rgTx returns only -01, and the portal ain't coughin' up no stinkin' data fer crap like that. I've compared my syntax, field types, etc. with the demo file and find no difference; I even padded the range to match the demo and no luck. Is there better documentation available for this promising leetle gem?

Hi, I have developed some internal use plug-ins that work fine under MacOS 9.1 with Filemaker 5. If I upgrade to Filemaker 5.5 and MacOS X, will my plugs work under system X? Do I need to do the programming again? o I need FM Developer's 5.5 to do the plugs again? I made a test with the demo version 5.5 from FM and system X and the plugs are not seen by Filemaker. I'm currently using Filemaker Developer 5.5 along with a graphing plug-in known as x2max. I have web-enabled my FileMaker database using web companion. However I was unable to update the x2max charts on the web upon request. Any suggestions on how that can be accomplished (If it is possible to do) would be appreciated.

This is addressed to CaptKurt, and anyone else who may have worked with Waves In Motion's Analyzer 3 and FileMaker Devloper 5.5. Another thread got exercised heavily in the pros and cons of FMD 5.5 upgrade, and I am not asking to re-open that discussion. Rather, I would like anyone with experience using the new Analyzer 3 to give a review of it. Because Analyzer 3 requires FMD 5.5, I would prefer to hear about Analyzer 3 only. If it is as good as it is purported to be by WIM, a purchase of FMD and Analyzer would be worthwhile. If it is not, I would eschew purchase of either, as version 5.0 of Developer suits me fine. Can anyone give me advice as to Fax server software that is compatible with linking to FileMaker? Specifically, Does anyone have any experience with FAXmaker by GFI? We are running FileMaker Server 5.0 & 25 FileMaker 5.5 clients. We are in the process of setting up a fax server & are interested in automating broadcast faxes from within FileMaker databases. We have been doing this with WinFax from each workstation, using DDE to pass info from FileMaker to WinFax via WinBatch, which has been somewhat buggy. I’m looking for a FM Plug-In or to develop a FM Plug-In that will extract the hard drive serial number from the computer in witch the software resides on. I have tried the Crypto Toolbox Plug-In that extracts the hard drive serial number, however it extracts the info from the computer that is actually running the date base and not the computer that the files are on.
