    Hi everyone, I would like to have my date and time generated automatically for fields Date and Time. I have already created these two fields and have been transferring some old data into them, but I don't know if I can change the input type to auto enter after I'm done with all the data transfer.   3. My users will be editing a record that contains a field for First Name Last Name of a contact from a separate Contacts table. Naturally, on the report that the users are editing this field is a calculated result of two separate fields that contain first and last name of that contact. The user has the opportunity to change the name of the contact (in the case of a misspelling) and I need to find a way to update the contact record with the updated name. Is this possible? or would it just be easier to add the two separate fields?

  4. I have an estimating database and a projects database. I have created a series of scrips to import estimating line items and est optional line items into a project. I hit trouble when trying to import est optional line items into a project. I realised i was getting error messages when the GTRR was not finding any related records (some estimates dont have options - just the base quote line items).   7. I've got a simple script setup in FileMaker that's moving between two different layouts (one of which is a MySQL data source) to sync the data between the two. Basically pulling data from MySQL, then checking to see if that same records exists in Filemaker, and if not, delete it out of MySQL. Here's the script I'm working with...     Hi everyone, I need to separate a text field with chunks of data into different fields.. for example- 3/4/2008 (location info) (actual comment text) (initial) In the future, the date info will go to a date field, location info will go into its own text field, actual comment text will go into another text field, and so does the initial field. Anyone who has ideas about doing parsing charater by character? Date field would always have two slashes, location field is always within parentheses, comment is just some plain text, and the initial is always within parentheses at the end. Thank you so much! :)

  10. Any tips out there on aborting script triggers? I have OnLayoutLoad triggers for sorting and window management, but I don't want to run them when a script calls a new window (with with a GTRR or a New Window). I've tried passing Get(ScriptName) as a parameter, to check if a script is running, but I have to hard code the names of all the scripts I want to abort. I don't want to abort all the scripts that trigger OnLayoutLoad, just some. So that's cunky at the least. Thoughts?

    I have created a set of layouts that I want my users to access. Basically, a user clicks on a button that then goes to a related record. The related record is opened in a new window, and then another new window is opened that displays a second set of related records. The second window that is opened displays related files that the user can open, and the first window displays a form layout that I want my users to edit.     I have a database with 3 tables, "Survey" (parent table), and "Effort" and "Sightings" are tables nested under "Survey". I've created a layout that has all the data entry fields for "Effort" on one side of the form, and all the data fields for "Sightings" on the other side of the form so that the person can input data for either table on a single form (data entry happens fast and switching back and forth from form to form is difficult.     Hi all, I have multiple checkbox fields on a layout. They are filled by a value list based on the product IDs in the back and the product names in the front, so the user can see the name when selecting and I would get the ID for my relationship. When there are a lot of selections though the users want to be able to select a product name for all checkbox fields, so I was thinking about replace field contents or a loop but I can't script the checkbox field to select a name?   18. Hi, There are certain fields in my layout that I do not want to be changed without a warning of sorts. I only want this for certain fields (it could become a pain if it was every field), so the option to unclick "save records automatically" doesn't get the desired result. I guess what i need is a script that will run on a field (not sure which script trigger), prompting a dialog that will confirm the change. I am trying to write a script that puts an X in a different edit field/checkbox IF the user selects B, C, or D (not A) in the drop-down.     I have a bit of a head-scratcher. Any ideas are helpful! I am using a KeystrokeScriptTrigger on certain fields and am passing a "MaxCharacter" value to the script. The script checks to see if the Length( FieldContents ) = MaxCharacterValue, then the script performs a "Go to Next Field" script step. Basically, I'm only allowing X number of characters in the field (example: 5 characters in a zip code).     I work in a laboratory and am trying to edit the a script so that info will be copied and pasted from "time scheduled" to a "study history" section, meaning that while we will constantly be updating the "time scheduled" periodically, we want to maintain the "study history" info, and only paste into a new box (i.e. if Study 1 info is full, then it will paste into Study 2 info; if Study 2 info is full, then it will paste into Study 3 info, etc).     Hi all: I'm trying to develop a solution but I am using an older version (developer 6). I remember a while ago there used to be a couple of calendar databases that were free, such as cc calendar. I just need a calendar that I can sort of integrate with my solution. But it must be compatible with the .fp5 extension. The next step is to eliminate items that are duplicates if they are the same SKU and color and in a different photo. I use variables during the search, but they change during the If/Else part. This is a horrible explanation so here is the situation. I'm tracking three separate fields. Field A is unique. Field B is dependent on what Field C is and is user inputted. I currently have Set Field[Table2::Remaining Value;Table2::Remaining Value-Table1::Used Value] However, the value that is subtracted when the script runs is actually a value in a previous record of Table1, instead of the required record in table1. When I was importing a series of research records (lab visit date, study name, study lab etc) into a new file which displays one record at a time, I found out that I need repeating fields in the original files in order to be exported as separate records. I'm knocking up a quick database that will run in kiosk mode on a tablet PC to gather field data. Problem is that there will be some manual entry fields and kiosk mode doesn't like the tablet's on screen qwerty keyboard. I am using the AB method to navigate from one layout/table to another but im not sure what TO i should be using for the import. Does the import screen need to reference (from and to) tables that are related (ie part of the same TOG?) I hope this makes sense...

  61. I have a script that runs thousands of loops, and for some reason gets slower and slower as the number of loops gets bigger. When the script starts out, it executes about 1 loop/sec, but as it continues it slows down to 5-10 secs/loop, which is painful. One problem (perhaps not the only one) is when it gets to a "Go to Layout [original layout]" step. This step takes about 5 seconds to execute (in the script debugger). Anyone know of a scripting method of determining the data type of data embedded in a container? if I GetAsText on a container it returns a ? when the data is embedded or the filename of the file that's in there if a straight file insert was done. Via script (and with no user interaction) I'd like to examine a container and if it contains embedded graphic data I'd like to drop it to disk (in the temp folder) via Export Field Contents and then launch it with the default OS viewer. I set it up so customers can browse items in one window and click an "ADD TO ORDER" button that copies the item number from the item database, then goes to the order form layout, pastes the item number into an item number field in a portal on the order form, and then returns to the list of items. I'm using FMP to manage a depo schedule and every Wed and Fri of the current week we need to report to the client what depos are scheduled the following week.   95. Let's say I have a found set of say 50 records, I want to set serial numbers for these records starting with $initialpos So I put the "Replace Field Contents" step into my script. I select "Replace with Serial numbers" - in initial value I put $initialpos, and in "increment by" I put 1. The script actually puts the text "$initialpos" into the first record. Subsequent records are "$initialpos1, $initialpos2" etc. How can I get this script step to work like it should? The registration records are stored in a Registrations DB. I need the Course Capacity in the Course Information DB to be updated whenever someone registers.
