I have upgraded the engine that runs the site please let me know if you discover errors

I've been changing every password I have for security. Got to FMforums and while I got the password change, I was asked for a Google Authenticator code. I've chosen not to use that app. Clicked that I could not scan QR and got stuck in never-never land. If I ever had an answer for when I attended Devcom, I don't remember it. Would update my profile to include answer but can't get to Security & Passwords (think that was the option)

Update - Resolved Please be aware we currently have a bug with our site with forum downloads. We recently moved to storing our files on BackBlaze B2 bucket, which took over a week to move files over, without realizing the bug. I don't have an ETA to resolve it. I would recommend uploading to https://wormhole.app and post the link until we can resolve this. My Apologies Stephen

Something has broken and the forum does not behave properly on Safari. The announcements at the top of the page cannot be closed. The posts on the Activity page appear in full instead of just a few lines. The file attachments no longer show the number of downloads. And I cannot edit my post because all I see is the Save and Cancel buttons but not the actual text. I am hopefully typing this into the correct box because I had to disable the page style to be able to enter anything at all.

Yesterday someone asked a question about capturing a radio button selection. I posted an answer and flagged the question as being posted in the wrong forum. Now the entire thread is nowhere to be found. Something changed in the last 12 hours or so, and not for the good: When I am logged in on my computer and refresh the Activity page, I get a brief message in the form of: After that, any subsequent refresh requires me to confirm a warning about resending form data: This persists until I reload the page, then reoccurs after a while. When I try to view the same page from my phone (where I am not logged in), all I see is the above warning with a spinning ball and the page never loads, not even after reloading the page completely.

Hello, I can not enter to forum (approximately one month) due to CloudFlare firewall restrictions. I have fixed IP address in Kyiv, Ukraine. I tried from another work place also with fixed IP address. Also blocked again. I'm in despair. Looks like firewall rules block whole Ukraine IP networks. It is not very good. Is there a way to unblock its or, at least add my IP address to exception list. Thank you very much.

Hey there, Every page I visit, I get a pop-up that I need to update my profile, that membership information is missing. I'm not a FM partner, so none of the options are applicable. Since no option is chosen, I keep getting message. I haven't checked if it's the same on desktop, but I'm using Chrome on Android. Edit: I've chosen FileMaker TechNet for now, so I can browse without the pop-up.

I have changed the login requirements to use your email account. And have disabled login with display name.

It's been a little while, but something changed a few months back and now all the posts look like this when reading: I'm sure it's that topic status/metric box on the right.. was there before? I can't find a way to change any of this in the profile settings. This blows for looking at scripts and code settings as you can see, it's heavily in need of side scrolling.

Why does this keep popping up, even after I've updated my profile?

When searching by author, the "as you type" feature is no longer usable.

When you edit a post, the toolbar shows only a few out of the tools available when creating a new post. Create: Edit: So for example, there is no way to add code to an existing answer.

I have deleted (hidden?) the post and posted again, but it still doesn't show. And neither does this one.

I see today a banner on an old topic: ""This topic has 2683 days old and we rather you open a new topic instead of post it here." This is a great feature that's new to me. The grammar is wrong and awkward, though. I'd suggest something like: This topic is 999 days old. Please don't post here. Open a new topic instead. Also, maybe we could just auto-lock threads older than a year or two? Don't know if that's possible.

Has the time frame in which we are allowed to edit our posts been shortened? I cannot correct a typo in an answer I posted only a few hours ago. I think it used to be much longer than that?

Just noticed the change of the layout, where the featured products, blog entries, subscriptions etc have moved from the right to the left. I'm finding the previous layout, where that column was on the right, much easier on the eyes. Somehow having that column on the left just doesn't work and gets in the way. Anyone else finding this change a distraction?

You can change your, default Activity Stream. Select a different default stream or create a custom one Click the checkmark to set that stream as your default Your default stream is now set.

Every topic here has the same HTML page title: <title>Worldwide Filemaker Community</title> As a result, when I open multiple topics in browser tabs, every tab shows the same label. Ideally, each tab should show the topic's title, to enable easy navigation between them.

Sorry to need to post this, but I'm very new, and simply want to open a database file on a different drive than my primary. In the script OnOpen I've added the line Open and then used the prompted file source at the bottom (which shows the correct file) but it doesn't open. When I run the script it just shows me the directory and I have to select the file. But I can't find a way to include the entire file path so it appears in the prompt window for the script. Surely it can't be this tricky. Help.

The past two weeks or so, almost every time I open a page on this site, I get a message that Safari can't open the page. After sometimes 3 or 4 reloads, the page opens. Chrome never has a problem. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a setting in Safari or in the forum software?

Newbies to the forum (those with less than 6 posts) will be highlighted now in a different color box. A thread I participated in has disappeared completely, apparently as a result of moderator action. I appreciate the moderators here volunteer more than the rest of us and I am reluctant to criticize, but this seems a bit too drastic. Surely deleting the redundant offensive posts at the thread's trail would have been sufficient, and keeping the question along with the pertinent answers beneficial? Hi, I logged in once the other day but I had to log in like 20 times ? Finally I get my name in the top right corner and the "Post" button. I noticed that the IWP forum is buried under Custom Web Publishing > Other Web Technologies. I find this a little confusing since IWP <> CWP. My thought is that you could rename the forum Web Publishing, and in the description include "non-WebDirect." Or move the WebDirect forum under there if you think that'd be less confusing. I'd also get rid of Other Web Technologies and simply have its current sub-forums under Web Publishing -- no reason to add another level to the hierarchy.

OS X El Capitan, FM14A Over the past two days, on opening 'fmforums.com/discover/unread/', I'm getting a message saying I don't have permission to access that page and am invited to login. I do this only to see that my username and password fields are already completed, remember me is checked. I click login and all is OK. This didn't happen before.

Is it possible to deny posters the privilege to delete the entire thread after they have received an answer?

Hello I am unable to connect to this site from India. I am currently in Sri Lanka and have connected from there as you can see. But when I am in India I cannot.Error message says something about timing out. I think the number of hops is high ! Other than that not sure what the problem is. Hi Stephen, I've reported before that my profile shows incorrect credentials. It said I was 8 certified, a member of Business Alliance and when I uncheck them, it changes and gives me different credentials just as invalid or sets me back to the original invalid credentials. I see you removed those displays ( certification and Business Alliance ) and that's cool but you need to know it is still happening. When reviewing my profile, it still says incorrect credentials but now I just noticed that it displays when I post that I am Authorized Trainer. I am not. It's a bit embarrassing. Hi Stephen, A few things: Email links: When I receive an email that someone has posted on a thread I am following, it provides a link to the thread but when I click the link, it takes me to http://fmforums.com/ instead. Ever since you switched to this software, it hasn't taken me to the post itself. Private messages: I no longer receive notice of private messages. In fact, I no longer find where in my preferences I can even set that information. Thanks! :-)

The code button is no longer working for me. It pops up a window containing a spinning wheel that never stops spinning - and no code is inserted.

The "Content I Posted In" activity stream stopped working for me. It shows one post from last week and one from earlier, despite the setting being "Any time". Clicking "Load more activity" doesn't change anything.

I have tried using the "Mark Site Read" feature. It doesn't seem to work. Immediately after clicking OK, the result for "Unread Content" shows as empty. OK. However, when I come back to the site, there is the same list of unread content (plus more recent items) as I saw before I performed "Mark Site Read".

When composing a post, I am unable to copy any text from within the text box.

If there is a bit of content that you wish to quote you don't have to quote someones entire post, just select the bit of text you wish to quote and then you will see a popup that allows you to "Quote this.." And the selected text will be inserted in to the reply.

It has been an ongoing issue but this latest upgrade has made most file links worthless. When I select a file in a thread to download, I get file ending in html instead of the usual 1192203517-filename.zip format and when opened, it says something went wrong and there is nothing there. Even removing the '.html' doesn't work. I know that Comment has mentioned it already but I am not sure you are aware of the extent of the issue. As is, there is little in this forum that we can reference without it being broken.

just a little add-on to the site a "bookmark" feature, when reading a post that you like and wish to return to you can click the little book mark icon in the top right corner of the post next to the "share" link. When you add a book mark you can make a comment as to what this bookmark is for. You can review your bookmarks from your profile menu, under bookmarks. Currently there is a toggle switch that if you decide a bookmark is "public" it will show up publicly when someone views your profile. - Please note this function is not available just yet but the toggle switch is there so any bookmarks you want public will be visible once the feature is implemented.

What happened to the thread regarding serial numbers, where I posted a reply just a short time ago?

Hey Forum/administrators, am I missing something obvious? All of a sudden, the topics side of my screen is, to use the technical term, smooshed, and the topics are in very narrow and long descriptions. The only way to get it to look 'normal' is to zoom out to 75%. The screenshot shows a border on the left, but it's not visible on my monitor, and there are no scroll bars on the bottom to slide to the right. I checked in my profile>account settings> theme (at the bottom). Tried all 3, no luck. Good morning, Stephen! Were there changes to this website over the weekend? I've noticed that it takes almost a minute to load a webpage, displaying only a white screen while it churns away. I just wanted you to be aware of it. :-) This is on both Safari and Chrome on Mac 10.9.5.

Is anybody else having trouble uploading file attachments? The area were we were able to drop attachments does not show in the reply to a topic box.

The button "Mark this topic read" available in the hovering popup on the New Content page has stopped working. Clicking it now results in loading the topic.

a recent update to the site on Monday introduced a bug that prevents private messages and accessing your profile - a patch is scheduled for tomorrow that should resolve this.

I had an RSS feed on my Yahoo Home Page that showed me a list of unanswered questions from FMForums. This is no longer working. I assume that it broke after the recent site upgrade. Is there a new RSS feed for this and if so, where can I find it?

Isn't it possible to limit the number of threads a new member can start - say if you've been a member for less than a week, than no more than two new topics per day, or something like that?

So, I finally took the plunge and upgraded the site to the new forum engine. I am planning to work the weekend to restore site features that are currently disabled. There may be times when the site goes unresponsive or generates an error. I already have a few trouble tickets pending with the site developers to provide a remedy. The recent entries on the main forum page should contain recent posts not whatever an "entry" is seems like entries are sticky posts by seedcode

So we updated the server again - moved the databases and directory to a fast SSD. We also upgraded to a newer version of the mySQL. We plan to have additional RAM installed in the next 48 hours. We may be offline less then an hour. Enjoy. stephen
